Mr. Singh is quite likely to be a Sikh. The Sikhs have been India's Warrior caste for Millennia.:smash: It would not do to underestimate :nono: a Sikh. :evil2:
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do those things to other people and I require the same of them.

Looks like he did a lot right...trying to de-escalate the situation. They showed him a gun and asked him for money...that's reason enough to be in fear for his life and be justified in protecting what is his. But when he walked away and they came after him, he didn't think twice. The only better ending would have involved better shot placement. Once this pair gets desperate again, they will just walk up and execute him before he has time to react.

I was thinking about that. I would have expected them to simply shoot him in the back when he attempted to walk away. Perhaps they are relatively new at this and will become more violent on their next attempt rather than having their victim shoot at them. There is no doubt in my mind that there will be a next time for that pair.

Perhaps it had something to do with the store owner's bravado. If I understood the message in several of the books that I've read, BGs are looking to control the situation and this store owner was not letting that happen. I suspect that some BGs are like some victims - they expect the other party to simply melt at the sign of a gun.

what was the carry method used here? IWB or in the bag?

I guess he moved away as distraction so he can pull out his firearm.

One component of being a warrior is being effective and proficient with your chosen weapon(s).

Mr. Singh needs a little work in that area.

Scaring tactics might be his choice.

However, Do you know the Percentage of people who can hit a moving target when they are moving? I would guess less than 1%. Go try it and let us see how do you score.

Note: Once I tried to move diagonal (fast paced, not walking) with respect to a regular IDPA/IPSC target and closing in and shooting my accuracy was maybe 20%-30% out of like full magazine. Imagine if your target is dodging for his life!

Of course everyone is different. Although Mr. Singh didn't explicitly mention it in the interview,
perhaps he didn't want to wound or kill his BG's. He had them on the run when he started flinging
lead - maybe he was OK with just stopping the threat by having them flee.

I think it was more of a run and shoot back to put distance between him and the attackers. That will usually cause the BG's to help increase the distance themselves. And unless you are practiced at moving and shooting, then hitting anything is going to be a challenge. As Clint Smith says "If you're not shooting you should be loading, if you're not loading you should be moving, if you're not moving, someone is gonna cut off your head and put it on a stick."
