I wonder about this. I'll take this specific instance as it is, lacking any contrary info, and it certainly worked out OK in this case, but as a rule... most shootings that go over one or two rounds seem to involve a lot of missing by both sides, so short of being behind really good cover (which might in fact be daddy's body), I don't know that there is such a thing as a "safe spot."
