A black hoodie on a 103-degree day? Raise alert level. Is this the BG equivalent to a Hawaiian shirt or vest?

(Not saying the officer did anything wrong BY ANY MEANS. . . just saying that as a passerby out in the hustle and bustle, this clothing choice alone would lead me to raise an eyebrow without considering any other factors.)

Something I posted just a few hours ago in another thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=42878&p=567221#p567221" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's not that it is always at the forefront of my mind, but rather that I catch myself doing it, and realize that I've been doing it all along. Part of the reason for that is that as part of just being generally aware of my surroundings, I am always looking for "what doesn't fit"—meaning whatever doesn't belong in the picture. It's going to be 103 in Grapevine today, and the "low" tonight will be 80º......so that guy slouching around over there with his face hidden in a black hoodie is something that "doesn't fit" the picture.

They said one the news that the initial report of a suspicious person was provided by a Code Blue (Citizens on Patrol) member. . . so there was some alertness out there.

The officer is reported to be in stable condition.

i noticed that too. were i in this officer's shoes, i'd have my hand on my weapon at the VERY least.

most likely at a low ready though - there's only a handful of reasons one would wear something like that on a hot summer day... and none of those reasons are good.

Just so I am clear, as I pocket carry, a Hoodie, Hawaiian shirt and Vest all make it easier to conceal a gun. Is the gun in a hoodie kept in the hood or in the front hand warmer or is it something bulky like the other two and it is inside the waistband carry.

Very tough job my prayers for the officer and his family.

It's just out of place. I'd assume a firearm could be concealed in the front pocket, or that the loose-fitting, long garment makes it easier to conceal something around the waistband or belt. I think we all know it's a little easier to conceal during cooler months. . . regardless of our preferred method of carry.

I'll caution that it's not a guarantee. . . I can brainstorm some unlikely, yet possible, valid reasons to wear a hoodie in the summer, but when considering this whole situation and all of its variables, it is still reasonable to at least take note of the oddity and raise your awareness a little more.
