I am fairly confident where I will go if this situation goes south. My brother left our church a couple of years ago, and the pastor at his current church not only welcomes but encourages carrying. :thumbs2:

I guess where I am at on this whole deal is that, IF the "LEO elite" form their security team and don't make a big deal about CHL holders, I am going to keep my mouth shut and stay where I am, but if ANYTHING comes up about no one carrying but "security", I will be turning north out of my driveway instead of south.

Since the preacher wants me to take him hog hunting, that will be an opportunity to feel him out on the current situation.
Take him, but don't let him bring a gun. Object lesson.
But, bring hymnals/song books? ..
What's YOUR active shooter plan? - If the shooter enters the classroom, throw books at him.
Should work for wild boar too ... "rlol"

This one I really like. :thumbs2: :hurry: Wish I was smart enough to have thought of it myself. :headscratch :banghead:

I kind of like that idea.

The Pastor would get to “learn” an Object Lesson and “experience” an Abject Lesson all in the same outing.

I can assure you….the Wild Boar WILL be armed!

Additionally, I have seen some of the hogs Retrieverman has taken off of his place and I can tell you this, you wouldn’t want to be “waiting for the police to get there”…..while those pigs had their way with you. :cryin

If he does then get into it, see if you can make him see your/our side of the scriptural argument. I think if my pastor and I had such a scriptural difference, we'd be gone...basically because my whole family believes as I do.

Why 'beat around the bush'? Get to the point, resolve the question before it becomes an issue and get on with your life...just sayin'.

I wasn't really saying to beat around the bush, I've never gone hunting but you're there with guns, so I figure you can talk guns, that would lead to CHL's, if the pastor is the one who can bring up the situation at the church he would feel more comfortable in the conversation, more in control. If during a CHL convo the pastor does not bring up the situation then retrieverman should bring it up, take control of the conversation and lead! We know he has scripture on his side! Now he has to show the pastor.

The church demonstrating they don't trust me by prohibiting me from carrying would be what I'd consider good reason to switch churches if I were the church-going type.

No offense to anyone on this board, but he is a yankee from New Jersey (and I do call him this to his face), and he doesn't always understand the "ways" of country folks.

I understand the preacher's concern for our congregation, but the man heading up the "security team" is overstepping his bounderies on this issue.
Sounds to me he already knows how you feel and is gearing up to "head you off" before you can voice your concerns.

Churches/Religions are basically a group of like minded people who have an organized way of worshiping. Large churches, like any large body, tend to be run by people who like running things which goes in the direction of a whole ‘nuther train of thought. Mark Twain wrote in “Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.
“..above all, I was afraid of a united church. For it makes a mighty power, the mightiest conceivable. And when it by and by gets into selfish hands, as it's bound to, it means death to human liberty and paralysis to human thought".
I read this book as a very young man and this quote has stuck with me in a big way. Maybe it’s just me but ever since, I’ve been very sensitive to how the church I’m a part of is run and when it goes afoul of Biblical principles for any reason and in any area, I raise a stink.

Christ was very specific in how he views weapons and self defense of the individual. Luke 11:21 and Luke 22:35-38 are pretty straightforward examples. One is a parable and one a straight up command that believers need to arm themselves against evil and evil-doers.

I’m sure you’ve already prayed about it. Do what you know is right.

Of course a sign will keep the bad guys out, just as this video explains.

It’s disturbing to me that many of the members on this blog site seem to have been restricted in carrying their personal firearms (CHL licensed of course) in their churches. We have had a Shepherd’s Ministry at my church for about 2 years with the consent of the church staff. With all the assaults, robberies and killings on church campuses across the U.S. it’s become necessary that any size church needs to take measures to help insure the safety of the pastors, church staff and the congregations of our churches. If anyone contends that firearms should not be allowed in the church should read the Bible which is replete with scriptures telling us to keep watch over the flock and to be on guard of the evil one that would cause us harm.
