Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
As the title states...
I just can't decide.
I've held both. Only fired the 26.
I hear there are more options for the glock.
I also hear that the glock comes with the mag with the finger extension as well.
Academy has a sale going on currently that would make a brand new g26 about the same as a used one.
I could really use some help.

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
they are both very similar weapons
You really need to do a side by side comparison, holding each and deciding which really feels better in your hands.
We all have our opinions, but those were based on how they felt in our hands.
I chose the XD9sc (not the XDM9sc) due to the backstrap safety, where the Glock does not have that. It gives me a bit more peace of mind that just the trigger safety.

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
As of right this second I don't think the XDM is offered in sub-compact. They are offering the XDM 3.8 but is still just a little bit bigger than the G26. I personally do not shoot a G26 that well unless is has the finger extension on the mag. With it though I am very confidant. I think the XDM 3.8 is an awesome weapon, just a little bigger than the G26.
I know for a fact you could not go wrong with either one.

My apologies. The XD series confuses me.

I carry a Glock26 Gen4 without the finger extensions on the mag and shoot it just fine. I highly recommend it as a EDC weapon. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I would pick the XD, but thats just my opinion, I am not a fan of the grip angle on Glocks. Either way they are both reliable handguns and will last a lifetime with proper maintenance........

I have the Xdm 9 compact. 3.8" barrel gives you a longer sight radius( = more accurate), but it still has an easily concealable grip. No contest.

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
Dont own the XD, but have fired my grandfathers XD subcompact, XDM, etc... and I still prefer my gen 4 G26. I carry it more often than anything else I own, carry it stock except for truglo nighties, no pinky extension, none of that. It easily competes with my G30 for accuracy, and keep in mind the G30 is renowned for being a freak of nature out of the box as far as accuracy is concerned. Follow ups are quick and easy. Light, getting mags is cheap if you look, 33 rd mags for the car, accessories are cheap. Only downside is no accesory rail--but this is strictly a carry gun for me. I dont use it for home defense or anything, I just strap it into the holster and carry on. It is a little block-ish, but it's a glock. If you get the gen4, it comes with interchangeable backstraps. Oh, and when I clean it after a hard range day I take the slide off, and throw the whole bottom half in the dish washer. The slide and barrel takes me 2 seconds to clean (ok, maybe 2 minutes.) They hold their value.
XD was awesome, but I didn't like all the extra levers and whatnot that they have. I like simple point/shoot carry guns. XD was accurate. XD was comfortable. Nothing bad to say about it really. One things for sure, it's not a Glock--that can be good or bad depending on the person. Bottom line is you really can't go wrong with either.
Gen4 G26- $500 New in Box, 3 mags, 2 extra backstraps.
XD- $ (?), 3 mags (i think), belt holster, and mag holster.
Apples and Apples. Pick one, you will be happy with either I suspect!

Go see Gordon at black gold guns and ammo. I went and held and examined both the glocks and the xd's before I decided. He won't rush you into a decision and you get all the research time you need without lines of people behind you, making you feel rushed. He is in nw Houston. 713-682-4653
Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
Have you tried holding a S&W M&P 9c?
Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
I was told by a gun smith and fellow houston police officer that S&W are junk.
I trusted his opinion.

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
That might be true about the older S&W lines but the M&P is getting pretty good reviews all around, and I love mine. I have the .40 full size and the .40 compact and have no problems with either and the grip is so much better than the Glock or the XD. But if you are stuck on either the Glock or the XD I would go with the Glock.Mr.d wrote:I was told by a gun smith and fellow houston police officer that S&W are junk.

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
I've only ever heard good things about the M&P line. It's the second most popular gun used in the IDPA Nationals next to Glock. I also like that it's completely made in the US by a US company. Oh yeah, they also feel great in the hand too. (can you tell I like M&Ps?). I've owned all three. I sold the XD.Mr.d wrote:I was told by a gun smith and fellow houston police officer that S&W are junk.

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
You really should shoot both. Find some place that is renting both guns. They point differently. For me, the glock has a strong tendency to shoot low because the angle of the grip just isn't right for me. Depends on the person. Pick up one in a firing grip. Pick a target point. Close your eyes and raise the gun to what you feel is an accurate aim on that point. Open your eyes. You will see one gun will more naturally aim at the selected point than the other. The XD line does not have an adjustable grip. The XDm line does and some other nice features. I have heard good things about the M&P line, but don't have any experience with those.
I have had the glock 19 and the XD subcompact 3.0 but I traded them for the XDm 3.8 with the full size grip and adjustable backstrap. Absolutely love that gun. It comes with 3 interchangeable back straps to get a good fit for your hand. I just can't conceal it on my person very well with the large grip. But now Springfield has solved that problem with the XDm Compact 3.8 with a short grip and a mag extension you can add to make it the full size grip any time you want. That is a really neat way to carry a concealable gun but easily pop in the larger magazine with the grip extension for lots of ammo when needed. Very versatile.
As for the grip safety, etc. I have never had the slightest problem with it. You won't even notice it. If you have any kind of a correct firing grip, it will function just fine every time. It is a point and shoot gun. Very accurate. Very reliable. I have never once had a failure to feed/eject right from the box. Neither has my husband who owns the XDm 3.8 in both the 9mm and .45. Of course...If you can't decide. Buy them both!

Re: Can't decide between G26 & XDM 9SC
I prefer the simplicity of the Glock. Finger off the trigger, safety on. Finger on the trigger, safety off. Very few parts to deal with when stripping/cleaning. Plus the Gen4's have the adjustable backstraps.
