In Fort Worth Wednesday, a convenience store clerk was fatally shot during a robbery. The victim reportedly was shot before he could comply with the robber's demands or resist. The robber fled after taking money.
The 66-year-old grandfather's wife was in the air flying home from Israel when he died.
Police said the robber would be charged with capital murder when he is caught. No description is available.
The incident took place on East Rosedale Street. Someone familiar with Fort Worth will have to say what that implies.

That is a bad part of town. The east side area is where Ft.Worth PD trains their rookies because they will find all manner of crimes there most any day of the week.

Does "East Side Area" mean the eastern part of downtown west of I-35W, or east of I-35W? I met someone over there for a Craig's List transaction once, and the part of town I was in seemed like it would turn shady at night.TexasGal wrote:That is a bad part of town. I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Pretty much all of Rosedale, from the medical district to East Loop 820, is bad news.

North side and South side from downtown to the loop aren't much better. I would not meet anyone in any of those areas off craigslist. You could have a nasty surprise waiting or be buying stolen property.

Not all of it.
My wife's family lived off of E. Rosedale. There were good folk living in that area too.
My first job, in college, was off of E. Rosedale.
I also attended Texas Wesleyan College on Rosedale.
I haven't been back in a while, so it may have declined since then.

Re: Fort Worth: Convenience store clerk murdered in robbery
There are always good people living in the crime ridden parts of town. Rents are cheap. My posts are not meant to disparage them in any way. My son lived for a year on the south side of Fort Worth because he worked there and had no car. The first night in his apartment near McCart and AltaMesa, there was a drug related murder a few doors down. He was awakened by the sounds of the shotgun. While he lived there, he let his hair grow long and tried to be careful not to wear anything that looked like he might have any money. No one bothered him much, but people regularly knocked on his door trying to sell stolen goods for some drug money.
