Mossberg 500 JIC Just In Case Shotgun

I know I'm a little late to show.

But I've just heard of the Mossberg 500 JIC Just In Case Shotgun .

It comes in different flavors.

1. the Mariner - which is stainless
2. and the plain black model.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these shotguns?

Just get yourself a Mossberg 500 by itself and use the money you save to buy ammo for it. The tube is just flair...like the Sigma Emergency Kit Academy sells.

It's just a Mossberg 500 in a tube. The Mariner has a corrosion resistant coating on it. I don't personally care for shotguns without a stock either but to each his own I suppose.

The mariner is not stainless, its a coating. Its a good gun i bought the 500 with the wood birding stock and barrel and home defense barrel. Had a maverick 88 and put the short barrel, folding stock on that one because my wife didn't like where the safety location that was on the 500.

Shot guns are ultra-versatile and a great choice for "just in case" weapons. Everyone should have one. Mossberg 590A1 for me!
But personally, I can't think of a "just n case" situation in which I would prefer to have one of these pistol-grip only shot guns over some other gun.
If space/weight really is that much of an issue for your intended use, then get something with a folding stock. That way you'll be accurate "just in case" you have to shoot it at more than 3 yards!
IMHO a mariner version of this gun seems kind of silly, and a waste of money, since it's in a waterproof case anyway.

JIC gun for me is my 870 18.5inch tactical with a buttstock and pistol grip. I can shoot it easily one handed from the hip by bracing the stock between my hip and elbow or can easily transition to two handed shoulder fire.

3 spare tubes and wrench in a small pouch on my bail out bag and a 25 shot bandolier with 00 buck and low recoil slugs. It can be used for almost any purpose with an ammo and choke change.

Dad used it for dove hunting a few times (with a plug installed and longer barrel ) and was rather impressed.

Can't go wrong with the purchase of a reliable shotty.
