I certainly understand. Perhaps in the future we can hold a seminar in your area. Paul Britt (a former student of Lansdale's) has his own dojo in Rockwall (closer to you) where he is on the police force. He might be willing to "host" us some time.cyphur wrote:I would love to go but unfortunately the 4 hour drive is prohibitive.
Update: Edged Weapons Seminar.

Great Jason,
I look forward to meeting you. Bring a friend if you know of anyone else interested.
And for everyone else, don't let the "waiver" scare you off (we've never lost anyone yet) , just standard legal mumbo-jumbo. We will train you to your ability, we can accommodate all levels of physical prowess or lack of.
Hope we get some more "takers", especially from our Houston area folks, for you guys/gals...its just a conversation away (on the trip up), and I promise you'll have plenty to talk about on the way home.
Hope everyone has a great New Year.

Eugene's course outline looks pretty good. These are skills that CHLers need as part of a well-rounded self defense plan.
I will attend, and bring at least one practice knife and a couple of red guns.
Good deal, I look forward to meeting you. For those with practice knives/guns please mark them in some manner so that they do not get mixed up with others.
Also, bring any "carry" knife that you wish so we can suggest ways to carry/deploy it. They vary widely in design and function.
Note: It is not necessary to have your own equipment, we will provide props for those who need them. In the coming week I will be posting a list of things to bring (clothing, towel, etc..).
Again, I would like to encourage you Houston folk to take advantage of this seminar. We recognize that it will make for a fairly long day (Sunday at that) considering travel time. But, we will make it worth your time and trouble.
Flint.

I was hoping you'd be able to make it. I know you and Jason have become somewhat of a "team".
No hurry about getting anything in the mail, you can even show up at the door and we'll get you registered.
Looking forward to it.
Flint.
Note: We'd sure like to have some of the females out their attend. This seminar is not limited to forum members, if you know of anyone wanting to learn about the mechanics of a knife assault and what you can do about it, please send them.
Flint.

Flint-
When you ride in the car with someone for 4,000 miles in a week.......you either learn to like them or both of you don't make it home
Kinny and I have become friends and this will be a great seminar! Just one of the many things I have to thank this forum for!
Oh yeah! I got my new shirt for the class
