My non-fantasy, can-keep-only-five list would probably look something like:
1. Glock 27 (my daily companion without which I feel lost, naked, or both)
2. Remington 870 Tactical (because a gun list without a shotgun is, well, a gun list without a shotgun)
3. 2.23/5.56 AR ('nuff said)
4. S&W 327 (little gun-big bang)
5. Remington Nylon 66 in Apache Black (sentimental favorite)
Any five guns, and only five, to cover the broadest scope I can envision reads like this to me. Note that this list is not terribly specific as to make and model, because those particulars are not as important to me as general classes to fill a need. I certainly do have preferences within each class, and may want to acquire more/different examples than what we presently have as the opportunity arises.
-Pump Action or Semi-Auto 12 ga. Shotgun with both regular length (with screw in chokes) and 18" barrels; think Rem 870 or Mossberg 500
-Quality .22 LR Rifle, could be bolt, pump, lever or semi-auto
-AR platform carbine in 5.56 x 45 mm
-Quality Single shot, bolt, lever, pump or semi-auto rifle chambered in .308 Win. or .30-06 (primarily for availability everywhere, particularly if TEOTWAWKI comes to pass)
-Quality semi-auto sidearm in 9 x 19 mm or 45ACP to fight one's way to a long arm.
Fortunately, I am blessed have examples of each and then some, wanting to be prepared like a good Boy Scout. In the interest of being prepared, I enjoy AusinRealtor's comments about appropriate ordnance stockpiles earlier in this thread.

-springifield EMP 9mm- Wanted one of these since they came out but the price tag stopped me and I can't seem to get away from my Glock 26. It's familiar and it works, why replace it.
-Smith and Wesson Model 15- 38 Special-love me a nice revolver, and this is supposed to be the top of of the heat for target shooting.
-Dan Wesson Pistol Pack in .357- Just think they're sweet.
-Nighthawk Custom Custom 870 with all the tacticool add ons
-S&W 500- because even though I love my Model 29, I get pistol envy when someone pulls out a 454 casull etc.
