I certainly understand. Perhaps in the future we can hold a seminar in your area. Paul Britt (a former student of Lansdale's) has his own dojo in Rockwall (closer to you) where he is on the police force. He might be willing to "host" us some time.

Alright folks, you have less than 3 weeks to make your plans. I hope a few of you will take advantage of this training seminar. Time to firm things up though, so let me know how many are interested.

Here is the registration/release form: Fees are $50.00 prepaid, $65.00 at the door. You can print it from here and mail it, or bring it with you. I will be "bumping" this from time to time so those with tentative schedules will have time to join us if possible. January 14th (second Sunday).

Lets start talking it up, and please don't hesitate to contact me either here (publicly, PMed) or by e-mail: johnmm1223@yahoo.com

Current itinerary:

John,

Attached you will find the registration/waiver for the seminar. I can do it either the 7th or the 14th. You pick the day and let me know. You can send the date out with this information.

The schedule can be somewhat fluid, depending on the desires/and or level of the participants.

1) Introductions and short demonstration
2) Basic concepts of self defense/knife defense
3) Ethical & legal Ramifications of Knife Carry
4) Carry Options and methods of deployment
5) Empty hands against knife attack-with simple flow drill
6) Empty hand knife disarms/from the mug & dynamic
7) Knife Attack flow drill-static partner
8) Knife Attack flow drill-dynamic partner
9) Basic gun disarms/from the mug
10) Question & answers

I'm not sure we can get to all this, but we'll do what we can and have fun. Anyone that has a practice knife or gun, should bring them. I'll have enough we can do otherwise. Let me know if you need anything else. Eugene

It may a little far for you guys (about 3hrs. one way). For the Houston folks, its about 2 hrs. door to door from most places in N. Houston. It will be well worth the drive.

Oooops. I meant to say I have a prior commitment in Dallas on that day, or I would be there to train with y'all. I was really looking forward to the training day. I am South of Houston and was willing to drive, or carpool. Maybe we could make it a quarterly event?

Great Jason,

I look forward to meeting you. Bring a friend if you know of anyone else interested.

And for everyone else, don't let the "waiver" scare you off (we've never lost anyone yet) , just standard legal mumbo-jumbo. We will train you to your ability, we can accommodate all levels of physical prowess or lack of.

Hope we get some more "takers", especially from our Houston area folks, for you guys/gals...its just a conversation away (on the trip up), and I promise you'll have plenty to talk about on the way home.

Hope everyone has a great New Year.

Another bttt

Eugene's course outline looks pretty good. These are skills that CHLers need as part of a well-rounded self defense plan.

I will attend, and bring at least one practice knife and a couple of red guns.

Good deal, I look forward to meeting you. For those with practice knives/guns please mark them in some manner so that they do not get mixed up with others.

Also, bring any "carry" knife that you wish so we can suggest ways to carry/deploy it. They vary widely in design and function.

Note: It is not necessary to have your own equipment, we will provide props for those who need them. In the coming week I will be posting a list of things to bring (clothing, towel, etc..).

Again, I would like to encourage you Houston folk to take advantage of this seminar. We recognize that it will make for a fairly long day (Sunday at that) considering travel time. But, we will make it worth your time and trouble.

I was hoping you'd be able to make it. I know you and Jason have become somewhat of a "team".

No hurry about getting anything in the mail, you can even show up at the door and we'll get you registered.

Looking forward to it.

Flint.

Note: We'd sure like to have some of the females out their attend. This seminar is not limited to forum members, if you know of anyone wanting to learn about the mechanics of a knife assault and what you can do about it, please send them.

Flint-
When you ride in the car with someone for 4,000 miles in a week.......you either learn to like them or both of you don't make it home

Kinny and I have become friends and this will be a great seminar! Just one of the many things I have to thank this forum for!

Oh yeah! I got my new shirt for the class
