Houston hotel recommendation?
I'm going to be staying in Houston the nights of August 25th, 26th and maybe the 27th. Looking for a decent area to stay that wont break the bank. Coming in to take my daughter to Amrerican Idol auditions.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hotel Sorella is brand new and last time friends came it had pretty low weekend rates ($120), located at I10 and Sam Houston Tollway. Plus it has lots of new restaurants within walking distance in CityCentre.

Houston is a big place. You might want to be more specific as to where...

I'm guessing that the auditions are going to be at Reliant Arena. There are a few places to stay close to that but the area can be rough. I would stay close to the Hwy59 & Kirby area. Its refered to as the Greenway Plaza area. LaQuinta or a Holiday Inn Express usually wont break the bank.

I know about the hotels at 59 & Kirby. I recommend you do not stay there. If you will PM me with some details of your needs, 1 or two rooms, I will make a call for you and get you a better deal in a business class, all suites hotel.

I always like Motel 6 because they are animal friendly and usually very reasonably priced. I just stayed at the one in Baytown off I-10 this past Sunday night and it is what I would call a bare bones Motel 6. My room was very clean with pseudo wood floor, wide screen television about 36", shower, toilet, sink. and King size bed for about $44 per night after taxes.
Baby Glock ready to go if needed. I did not take it in the shower, but it was on the toilet tank within reach.
Some Motel 6's are much nicer and I've even stayed at a couple of Super 8's that were pretty nice for a decent price. I'm not very picky about where I stay since it is only the place where I sleep. I'm not there for the motel and mainly just require what the above Motel 6 provided me.

If this is true, stay somewhere north--the area gets sketchy as soon as you go south of Reliant.texanron wrote:I'm guessing that the auditions are going to be at Reliant Arena.
There's a Holiday Inn Express that is immediately north of Reliant Park on Kirby that seems fine--I've been there a few times as it's the polling station for my precinct.
The Medical Center would also be a good area to look for hotels--it's safe and close to Reliant, and you could even take the rail if you don't feel like driving to the audition the day of. There's a Holiday Inn at Holcombe and Main that I stayed at when I was interviewing for my move to Houston.
