Also, TPWD Fishing/hunting license fees go to stocking their lakes to attract tourists.MeMelYup wrote:I wonder how much of our ammunition and gun tax goes to ACOE?
Basically 3 ways ... 1) ask mebigred90gt wrote:How does one go about finding out what lakes and waterways may or may not be ACOE? I am getting ready to buy a kayak, and have a couple of places I intend to use it, but would like to know if I can legally bring my handgun with me.

I had no choice but to visit other countries once ... North Dakota, and Florida I think it was, and Louisiana when the border crossing guards weren't looking (big 6 foot gator in the road on I-10 once right at the bridge)
I will look at the referenced sites, but in the mean time, I will follow your first instructions. I'm looking specifically at Cedar Bayou in Baytown, TX, Lake Houston, Lake Conroe for lakes. I dont believe bay's would be ACOE waterways, but in the interest of being sure, Trinity Bay, burnett Bay, Crystal Bay, Scott Bay, Black Duck Bay, and Tabbs Bay.RPB wrote: Basically 3 ways ... 1) ask me![]()
Near Highland Lakes/ Burnet/Marble Falls ... 11-18 miles from LCRA lakes ... where concealed carry is legalbigred90gt wrote:I will look at the referenced sites, but in the mean time, I will follow your first instructions. For reference, I'm in Baytown, TX. Where about in central TX are you located?
most lakes, you can use this link and type in the lake name at the endbigred90gt wrote:One reason I ask about Cedar Bayou is that right now, there is a big stink going on on the Bayou with one of the more prominent families in the area. In the late 80's early 90's, they applied to the COE for a "boat slip" permit, and were granted the permit. Time was running out on the permit, and they were trying to renew it, with the intention of opening up a barge terminal on the bayou, basically across the bayou from one of the city parks, where a lot of people fish, ski, run PWC's, etc. Being that they are applying to the COE for their permit, I figured it might be a COE waterway, and me carrying my handgun could cause problems. As for the lakes, I was not able to find Lake Conroe or Lake Houston, but I believe I have read on this site that Conroe IS a COE lake. I will keep digging through your links.
