(that means Point Of Order)

We just need to keep prodding.
I don't think a point of order is decided by a vote, but rather by the chair (in this case Speaker Straus).
I"m guessing that's why John Woods' website emphasizes faxing/calling/e-mailing Speaker Straus. ;-)

That's probably a form letter which he can send to "both sides" ... takes less time that way.
But obviously the number of calls/faxes/e-mails counts as it influenced Aycock ...

You're right. If it was proven germane in theSenate, it should be in the House. Any amendment.

Speaker Straus, since a super majority of House members supported HB 750, I judge that it is the will of the House that campus carry passes this session. The campus carry provisions are currently in SB 1581. When SB 1581 comes up, it may come to you to rule on points of order related to retaining or stripping out the campus carry provisions. I respectfully ask that you rule in favor of retaining those provisions. I am asking this as a citizen, voter, university faculty member, and CHL holder. The campus carry provisions simply extend the longstanding, successful Texas CHL law.

I'm new to watching the Texas House, I only moved to Texas a little more than 3 years ago. So I guess I need to learn some patience, but the
suspense of scheduling this bill for a vote is driving me nuts. It's so close to the wire, and hard to follow if they're doing anything with it. I hope they
can get it on the calendar for today or tomorrow...

Looks like it's on the Major State Calendar for the 18th, unless there's something I'm missing.

You are correct--Wednesday is the day. Call your representatives, people!!

Good. They've just put that up in the last few minutes. When I posted, they didn't have a calendar for the 18th or 19th posted.

Now to get 766 on the major calendar. I didn't see 950 up, either.

Wonder if the Senate will get to 321 today.

House is discussing germaneness on Senate fiscal matters bills in front of the House now ...

REP TURNER
asking if Senate amendments on the Senate bill can be stripped off if House doesn't feel they are germane or if they can stay ...

REP TURNER
Now asking what's the proper time to ask parliamentarian regarding germaneness prior to us hearing the bills WEDNESDAY he doesn't think parts are germane ... he'll have 3 motions. one for each bill
1811 is first bill

I have never understood the Texas legislatures infatuation with Germans. What do they have to do with anything? Is it really that Germane?

:lol:
Asking if they send bill back to Senate, rather than House "strip out" an amendment

That's correct
------------------------

Rep Turner asking if they can have Senate messenger come get the bill now and take it back, instead of having parliamentarian decide later

===========================

What's going on is a "calendar rule" motion

Calendar rule is adopted (whatever that means )

For those who can't watch on Realplayer ... he's usually tweeting house sessions
Summary here of House matters by a twitter fellow there http://twitter.com/#!/johnreynoldsqr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The @TexasHouse adopts calendar rule on fiscal matters -- amendments due 2 p.m. tomorrow
--------------------------------------------------------------

Soooo we'll be hearing a lot about pointy orders on Germans on Wednesday I suppose.

He should offer an amendment if he doesn't like what the senate passed.

How did he manage to dress himself in the morning, much less get elected? :shock:
