Yeah, the account i got of what went down that night was very preliminary not long after it happened, not even the cops had a lot of info at that point.
More info may come to light that will clear things up.
I'll see what i can find out from my buddy, but he may not be willing to talk much about it just yet.

Here's an update:

The man has been identified as Allan Stowers. His condition has gone from critical to serious. Nothing new about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Glad to see he as been upgraded as far as his condition. I bet he's still not out of the woods though.
I read somewhere that he was an AF Colonel too, anyone else seen this?

Don't have a gun out unless you know you're willing to shoot.

If someone grabs your gun PULL THE TRIGGER!!!! And again!

There is probably more to the story...it may not have been that easy. If it were we would have been reading a story about a homeowner that downed 3 bad guys all buy himself.
There were 3, the odds were against him from the get go, maybe he only saw one and the other two snuck up on him.
Maybe he rounded a corner and they were on top of him before he had a chance to get a round off.

There are so many unanswered questions about this we can't just jump to the conclusion that he chickened out or froze up, while possible, there is just no way for anyone except those who were there to know for sure.

And until you find yourself in a similar situation you can't truly say what you WOULD have done. You can only say what you HOPE you would be able to do.
I would have to assume its quite the nerve racking experience with the adrenaline dump and all the different thoughts you are forced to process in a split second.

All I'm saying is lets not all jump to conclusions about what he should have done. Whats done is done.
Lets just all hope and pray that he pulls through.

I heard from a friend that lives next door to this guy. He said this was staged. Apparently the guy shot himself in an attempt to commit suicide. He was trying to make it look like a murder to get the insurance money for his family. There never was any intruders.

Anybody else heard that? I haven't seen anything in the news.

If you heard it from a neighbor then it wouldn't be in the news unless he told a reporter or the police.
