concealment with overalls?

I usually wear overalls at work and have not figured out any practical way to conceal with them. Any thoughts, comments, criticisms?

I'll watch this one too. I have tried to figure it out because I have been asked by several that wear them & I don't have any productive ideas.

This is a pretty interesting situation . . .

Take this with a big rock of sodium chloride, since I do not wear overalls and never have. And perhaps some of these ideas have already been mentally considered and discarded. But just to push along the discussion further, and to get the ideas in the open, here is a brief brainstorming:

1. ankle holsters
2. pocket carry (pocket might not be large enough; use a rag or hankerchief to help conceal it)
3. SmartCarry, Thunderwear (success may vary with physique and cut of overalls)
4. use a belly band or holster shirt worn under a loose-fitting button-down or snap-front shirt
5. sew a holster-type pocket behind the chest/abdomen area of the overalls (again, you have to work with your physique and the cut of the overalls)

None of these will be as fast as a strong-side hip or appendix-carry holster on a sturdy belt, but these are better options than leaving your gun locked in your desk, toolbox or vehicle. Also, some of these ideas may work better with a backup-type gun (think Kel-Tec or snubnose wheelgun), as opposed to a Glock 17, full size 1911, or whatever is your usual orientation.

#5 option, and am planning to work a generic hidden pocket in the S.O.B. area...Don't think there will be a "printing" issue with that method either...

I wear Dickies brand bib overalls occasionally, and the comfort issue has never been a problem anywhere I have chosen to carry while wearing them...

I used to wear bib overalls regularly and still do sometimes.

I've had good luck with a belly band. Once, for grins, I wore a Ruger KP90 and a 6" GP100 at the same time and no one could tell. In that case, I wore the band lower so the guns were at my side.

I never wore it inside my shirt, always outside.

I find it works better to wear the band higher and turn it so that the gun is in front. When I'm standing there with my hands hooked behind the bib, my hand is resting on the grip, but no one knows that. If they see the band through the gap at the side, most will think it's a back brace.

I would think an inside the pants thigh holster would become an option..

The thigh holster would be more difficult to access, should you need it. The belly band sounds like an excellent idea.

I have a friend who wears overalls daily, and he slips a Charter 5-shot .357 into the front pocket just below the front suspender attachments. It's invisible. (The Charter is J-frame size.) No need to get fancy at all.

My S&W 642 in a DeSantis protector slips in my front or rear pocket of my bibs each day. Doesn't print or bother me a bit ! Bib overalls are all I can fit into these days. T B

Thank you Sir. I rec'd my CHL for Christmas and I find this Forum to be my favorite. My Big Ol' Fat overalls have 9 pockets that serve me well. I wish is to be buried in an Oklahoma Tuxedo ( blue and white striped bibs).
