Re: Boycotting 30.06 Businesses vs. Employee Policy
Quite frankly, I can't remember the last time I saw a 30:06 sign. Maybe they are there and I am not seeing them??? I dunno. The hospital is posted and I can't boycott them. The post office is posted and I have to use mail. I can't carry into a court house. I suppose I could pick and choose when to have principles. Seems inconsistant to me. If your going to puff up and refuse to do business with posted places, it means nothing when you only exercise this restraint if it is easy to do. I just go with the flow and don't really worry on something that rarely happens. Concealed is concealed... after all.

I won't disarm for day to day activities. However, if I receive a jury summons, it would be stupid (not principled) to walk through the courthouse security checkpoint with a gun.

Yep, that just about says it all.

Re: Boycotting 30.06 Businesses vs. Employee Policy
I have seen numerous 30.06 signs myself, so amazed at so many not having seen any... maybe it's more in some pockets than others.... IF I have an alternative, I will go to the alternative. If they truly have something I need (as some said hospital, PO, Court House) then limited in my choices. In fact, even though I CAN carry past the hand painted "No concealed firearms" at one establishment here, I choose not to as it shows his attitude, and select going to another store. Were it generic gunbuster, might assume feel-good sign.

Re: Boycotting 30.06 Businesses vs. Employee Policy
Excellent question Wild One.....My question is will you "boycott" your place of employment for having a valid or invalid 30.06 sign or a company policy that does not allow guns on the property?
When I was looking for employment last year, I interviewed with several companies. Interviews go both ways. I asked point blank what the policy was. I am happy to say that we (the company and I) see things the same way. I very much enjoy my new job.

I have never asked that question at an interview. You are a much braver man than I.

I see a 30.06 sign as a locked door, and I'm not a burglar.
My former employer was bi-polar about firearms. Despite the fact I was paid to carry and use company issued arms, the employer treated personal arms with contempt.
Uncle Sam is weird that way.
88 day wait for the state to approve my constitutional right to bear arms...

I don't know about that nice guy part. He did pay for me to go over and see Europe for a while. I doubt I could ever have afforded it if he did not pay.JP171 wrote:yea that is a fact, wants me to use the kind that he wants, not what I want. sounds kinda one way to me, doesn't even consider what I would like. nice guy isn't heTexas Dan Mosby wrote:I see a 30.06 sign as a locked door, and I'm not a burglar.

But I do agree that he was sure bipolar on weapons. And I do give him the credit/blame for my love of the 1911 and M1A.

Re: Boycotting 30.06 Businesses vs. Employee Policy
At my place of employment, there is often a loaded pistol in plain view on the desk. My desk is located in what used to be the guest bedroom of my house. So boycotting my job is just not something I have to deal with until my retirement. Once I'm retired, I will boycott work all day long.
Also, I am getting to the point where I'm going to start outsourcing some of my tasks to an independent contractor. That person already knows about my guns and CHL. He knows because when he came over to my house for an interview on Friday, there was an M&P45 in a holster with a spare magazine in a mag-carrier sitting on my desktop. He said he was thinking of getting his CHL, and I encouraged him to do so.
I have boycotted, and will continue to boycott businesses which post 30.06 signs whenever possible. Of course, there are exceptions. I can't carry into any of my local hospitals because they are posted. So I'm not prepared to not seek medical care if that is the only way I can get it; nor would I let 30.06 stop me from visiting a loved one in the hospital. And being a law-abider, I won't carry past a compliant 30.06 sign. Similarly, I will disarm before attempting to enter a post office.... .....I just try to avoid ever going there if I can help it.

Re: Boycotting 30.06 Businesses vs. Employee Policy
Supporting my family and the income to buy new guns and ammo are too important. My company has a policy which I believe to be illegal that they can search your car at will and refusing is termination. Do not see the "Parking Lot" bill as doing much to change their minds. In Texas you can be terminated without a cause. I'm not giving them cause.
They have never asked to search anyones car but I don't plan to be the exception.
On another note. If a business does not have a legal sign posted and a false sign indicates a no guns policy I still do not do business with them. To me it is intent and I respect the intent of the owners.

Re: Boycotting 30.06 Businesses vs. Employee Policy
In 72 pages of the act I can't find any reference to firearms or prohibition thereof...nor does it seem to apply to "chemical plants" unless they are secure port facilities, which wouldn't be relevant for most plants with no water access. I've heard about the Coast Guard and Customs prohibiting firearms in vehicles entering certain secure ports, even though they (ports) are generally owned by the states/municipalities, but I can't find the legal justification in the Act.Carry-a-Kimber wrote:Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002ScottDLS wrote:

I assumed it was a joke. He doesn't live in Iraq.
