An Illegal Immigrant using a stolen identity has been working as an Anchorage police officer since 2005. According to the article, the same thing happened several years ago in Milwaukee.

I read that article. From the reports, it sounds like he was pretty good at his job.

It does seem that he did a good job and his peers seem surprised by the news. However, at least to me, committing a crime such as this calls ones integrity and honesty into question - as the article mentions, he has given testimony in previous criminal cases which may now be called into question.

I think this also shows how broken our immigration and national security systems are. Imagine if he were a terrorist using his inside information to help a local cell complete their mission and avoid apprehension.

I am not condoning his behavior. He stole someone's identity, but did not do it to steal money or property from them, as would 99% of other people. I am sure that the investigation will reveal some more details such as who is the real Rafael Espinoza.
