Ramblings from an old guy

#1

Post by wgoforth »

Don't been to get mushy, but just want to say how much I appreciate my pards in this forum. Didn't know where else to put it, and the mods may decide it doesn't belong at all.
I'm on other gun forums as well, but you guys are the friendliest, most helpful, most morally minded (and talking) of any of them. I have made several personal friends from this forum. I know several of us have had agreeable disagreements at times but you will with any subject you are passionate about.

Thanks to the list owners, moderators and fellow forum members.

you are absolutely correct.
I have been on many other forums (non-weapons), and they get out of hand quickly.
The rules on this board are good and fair, and the Mods do a great job in correcting issues, when a rule is in violation

Thanks! I get reminded of my age (50) by my kids and young folks all the time. Past couple of years I have begun to feel my age somewhat. Now that I have 40 year olds saying "Yessir" to me, and their thinking my kids are my grandkids....

50... I remember 50. Didn't expect to see 60, but it went by in a flash and I'm lookin' to see if I make it to 70.

In Kroger the other evening, the bagger asked me if I needed help getting my groceries to the parking lot. All I could think of to say was "I'm not that old yet! Thanks anyway!"

We had a bunch of ROTC shooters at the match a few weeks ago, drove me nuts calling me "Sir". Wanted to challenge one of them to see who could do the most push-ups... didn't want to seem ornery though. Or embarrass him by winning.

My wife is at her mom's 95th birthday party this week. Her mom can't see much and doesn't hear much better than I do, but she steps along pretty well, and nobody at the assisted-living place can keep up with her walks. She isn't old.

You are a good guy Wayne, just hang in there and smile inscrutably when they start teasing about your age. Nobody knows when the end is; it can come when the flesh is just too worn out to keep going, or it can come in the form of an 18-wheeler in the wrong lane. Enjoy now, today, each minute - life is fun!

You ever notice that you don't think you look that old when you see yourself in the mirror but you see a picture of yourself in the bright sunlight and you look like Ann Richards with a haircut?
