I had to run into Academy yesterday to get a saltwater pump for our new above ground pool, and I got lost and wound up near the guns. So, I had to fondle a few. one I liked the feel of was the Beretta PX4 Storm compact. Double stack, 15 rds. 9mm. Anyone have any experience or reviews of this gun? If it's good, I might be persuaded to go 9mm instead of .40.

Get you one!! I have no opinion on the firearm you're looking at but I did recently add a 9mm to my slowly growing collection. The only handgun I had previously was a .40. Adding the 9mm did not make me feel like I was going to 9mm instead of .40. I'll give each one of them equal exposure to rounds going through them.

I've shot one. I found it to be very comfortable and fit my hand well. It's a bit chunky (grip thickness). Felt recoil was markedly less than other 9mm pistols of similar size and weight. It is said that the rotating barrel lockup helps to reduce felt recoil, and I have to agree.

The Beretta Px4 Storm is a great choice if you are looking for a full-size, high-capacity, hammer-fired semi-auto.

BIL has one. I got to shoot it while I was visiting. It's an extremely light feeling gun, shoots nice, and carries well.

I have one.

I like the gun but it's not good for pocket carry.

The safety is too big and sharp.

It actually has worn holes in my pockets and bruises my leg.

If you pocket carry, make sure your holster covers the safety.

I have one and love it. I carry mine in a Comp-Tac IWB holster. Good shooting gun and not failures with about 800 rounds through it. I recommend it.

I don't own one, but I have shot the Beretta Storm Sub-Compact in 9 mm. I was surprised how accurately I could shoot that little thing. Last time I checked I didn't see any holsters for it.

Most don't even know there are three models. I went all over looking for a compact and whenever I got to a store saying they had one it was the sub-compact. I had to go to the gallery in Dallas to get mine. They gave me a discount though.

The easiest way to tell which it is, is by the number of rounds it holds.

The OP stated that the one he saw at Academy held 15 rounds of 9mm. That had to be the compact.

I'm sure it's a perfectly good pistol, but I am compelled to compare it to other 9mm pistols in the compact class, particularly for carry purposes, and I notice for instance that it is almost seven ounces heavier than a Glock 19 which has the same capacity (not to mention the availability of 17, 19, and 33 round magazines). In fact, the unloaded Storm Compact weighs almost as much as a fully loaded G19.

An unloaded USP Compact with an empty 13 round magazine weighs 2 ounces less than an unloaded PX4 Compact if you need a hammer fired compact polymer framed 9mm.

Both the Glock and the USPc have reliability records that will meet or exceed Beretta's. Then there's the holster availability thing. And add to that its appearance, which does not call my name, and I'm just not drawn to this pistol.

Definitely recommend this gun. I own a PX4 fullsize and a PX4 sub-compact and love them both. The rotating barrel of the fullsize gives it a smooth recoil and the size of the sub-compact makes it easy to carry and conceal. The name Beretta and dependability go hand in hand. In thousands of rounds, never a misfire or hiccup. Sure you can find thinner and lighter carry pistols but I like the solid feel that the sub-compact supplies. The blending of the rotating barrel into the compact size has been anticipated ever since they produced the sub-compact. As far as holsters, check out the Crossbreed SuperTuck. I had no problems ordering one for my sub-compact. If he doesn't have one for the compact yet, I'm sure he'll get it for you. As for me, I'm looking forward to adding the compact to my collection. Matter of fact, my son has already decided that the PX4 Storm compact will be his first pistol and is ordering one soon.
