In Elyra, Ohio, Saturday, a husband and wife were found shot to death in their home. Police have not determined the sequence of events that led to the deaths.
The adult son of the deceased woman told the newspaper he suspects that the deaths may have resulted from an accident. His mother had told him that she was buying a .38-caliber revolver and applying for a concealed carry weapons permit. The woman was worried that her abusive former husband might be paroled from prison.

There currently is an odd comment on this page from someone who obviously has never operated a revolver. It says in part, "He could have dumped the shells in his hand and one was left in the chamber and he didn’t count the rounds in his hand or look at the chamber after unloading."

Magic bullet theory, both were killed with the same round?
I suppose its possible, but likely? doubtful.

From reading this, I think the title should be: OH: Husband, wife found dead; son suspect
Where is the 'something smells fishy' emoticon.

That's a pretty strong accusation.
Presumably the presence of powder residue on one or more hands will tell the true tale.
Revolvers are convenient in discharging a lot of residue, compared to semi-auto pistols.

I could be wrong, and hope that I am. However, I have seen when someone close to the event starts providing explanations of how the event could have happened, they are many times trying to throw the investigators off the trail and convince them that it was a plausible theory and they don't need to investigate further.

I missed the third page comment on the second article, which now sounds like a possible murder-suicide, so I will retract my first suspicion until further evidence is uncovered.

Certainly sociopaths weave unbelievable explanations for their deeds.
However, it is common for relatives of victims of a suicide or murder-suicide to try to explain the event as something else.
There also is lack of a rational motive. Given the occupations or lack thereof of the the deceased and the fact that they lived in a trailer park, probably there are no significant assets involved.
