Notary Process

#1

Post by Art S »

Hi,
new to forum. I am scheduled for my CHL Instuctors class starting on the 25th. I am trying to get some of my ducks in a row and was wondering about the Notary process. A who, what and where thing. any information would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Um, what about the notary process?

If your students use the online app, you don't need anything notarized (it's done electronically online).

Oh! And welcome to the forum!

Some (most?) banks provide notary services for their customers.

In my case, it was free.

I think you are referring to the affidavits? Normally your CHL instructor will provide these along with a notary.

Not any more. Not needed when the student applies online.

Thats true , Doing app onlice cuts down on paperwork for everone.I tell all my students to do online apps.
I did become a notary before everything was affered online. Now if you really want to become a notary it`s very easy.

Those who live in rural areas may still need to be a notary as the majority of people may not have internet access.

I personally haven't notarized an affidavit since the state made it part of the online process.

I agree, I have not provided notary service in quite awhile. Most student would rather fill out the application online especially when you advise them that it will help them get their plastic faster. I have had maybe 2 or 3 cases in the past year where they wanted to send in the paper application. Now that all fingerprints are required to be taken electronically online is the way to go.
