Also pointing out another nit...suppressed firearms CAN be made to be very quiet, assuming you're firing sub-sonic ammunition. The sonic crack is what's hard to muffle. One of the members of this fine forum posted some videos of him shooting some sub-sonic suppressed .22 LR out in West Texas, and on the video all you could hear was the action working.

So to Cracked's credit, yes, a suppressor isn't going to turn a high-powered firearm into a baby sneezing, but with the right ammunition and setup, it can be done.

Did you guys see the recent episode of Mythbusters where they took on the myth that you could spin a merry-go-round by shooting it, and you can shoot a gun out of reach of a bad guy? I just watched it on DVR last night, and thought it was pretty interesting.

When discussing the changing times in movie firearms use, I have to point out one massive change that has occurred in the last decade. For years, we saw shooter firing dozens of rounds out of revolvers without ever reloading. This become the standard cliche in almost every movie featuring gun play. We never saw them reload. Fast forward to the 2000s and we see a total change. Shooters drop mags and reload about every 5th shot at this point. If you can sit through the last Die Hard movie, you will see Willis reload his semi at around every 3-5 shots for the whole movie.
