Re: My "Never again"
Hah!!
I have a similar story except I was 12 (1972), it was a .22 Marlin lever action, and it was a 19" black & white TV. Yes, My dad made me pay for a new picture tube. It probably cost a total of $50.00 but that was a lot of money back then. I had to go out that week and get about 4 good racoon pelts to pay for it.
This was back when racoon hunting was a fairly big business in the Texas hill country.

Ah see now you're reminding me of my trapping days in Canada. Except all I ever caught in my traps were squirrels.

Re: My "Never again"
I was in an artillery unit out of Ft, Benning for 6 years. You would be amazed at the noise you can sleep through and never even know it. I bought a shot gun one time. A Mossburg Bull Pup. I was loading it and checking out how it cycled through rounds when pumped. The very first round went off as soon as it chambered without ever touch the trigger. sent a slug up through the jam of a door and into the attic. My son never woke up and it was pretty darn loud.

This is exactly why I wont load a gun for the first time not at the range

Thanks for the candid story and the reality check. Thinking about trading the 42" for a 55".

Off Topic: Ahhhhh, the good ole days. Some of the best memories I have are raccoon hunting with my Dad. Good times....TDDude wrote: This was back when racoon hunting was a fairly big business in the Texas hill country.
Back on topic. Glad nobody was hurt. $650 is cheap for that kind of lesson....

Re: My "Never again"
It is so funny you posted this. I was just talking to woman last night who fell asleep watching her TV, in a droggy haze she reached for the remote, grabbed her glock and killed her TV.
I didnt know being on late night television was so dangerous!

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.
