The above link is to dashcam video of the Conroe, Texas shootout
where unfortunately a shotgun-wielding BG shot the first responding LEO,
who lived, but lost his right eye.

The LEO gives the BG a lot of commands to drop his weapon, but the BG eventually
fires on the officer, strking him in the face with one shotgun blast.

The LEO appears to have been hesitant to engage the BG due to innocent people
in the line of fire at the Sunbeam store, behind large windows.

IIRC, the BG was killed by other LEO's who responded to the scene.

Judging from the timing, it would be the one with a minigun. Those puffs were nearly simultaneous.

That is enough $ to pay at least 1 officer in a lot of departments.

That LEO had entirely too much patience (I do not mean this in any derogatory manner). I find myself hesitant to shoot another human-being; but I do know that all I could think of as I watched that video is that if anyone aimed a weapon for that long at me, I would have been shooting much, much sooner.
It is my sincere hope that the LEO has as good a recovery as possible considering the circumstances of his injuries. I have to say that I am highly impressed with the self-discipline and restraint that he demonstrated.

I agree. I think at first the hesitation was due to the large glass storefront as a backdrop. After - I'm not sure, I wasn't there.

if he'd have had a rifle readily available, prolly coulda made a more aimed shot and maybe not had to lose an eye. That whacko kept moving around, and not really in any kind of predictable manner. I'd have been reluctant to shoot with a handgun at that distance, too, considering the storefront in the back ground.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

That was hard to watch. As long as the BG pointed that shotgun, I was hoping the officer was behind cover and not exposed. My heart goes out to the officer. I agree, he didn't fire on the perp probably because he was really concerned about innocents in the line of fire behind him. I was reminded of another video I saw of a shooting where the BG had the same erratic behavior that rapidly escalated to firing on police. There is no way to know how a crazy person will react.

Actually, I was just thinking this might be a near-perfect time to use a shotgun and breaching round. They tend to break up on even fairly soft targets, but the first thing they hit gets hit hard.
