Thankfully it sounds as if the officer will survive with just the loss of one eye. Thanks to all the LEO out there for the job you do.

Re: Conroe Officer Shot in Face
I spent some time in Conroe in 2009 and became friendly with one of the Constable Captains.
Condolences and prayers for the officer and his family, including Conroe PD. I know how it is to have one of your own down.

What a horrible place to get shot. At least the BG got his due. Prayers for Sgt. Kelemen's physical and mental recovery.

Re: Conroe Officer Shot in Face
I saw on the news last night that Sgt Kelemen is recovering and will be able to return to work with the Conroe Police Department.

Re: Conroe Officer Shot in Face
And good Lord, shot with a shotgun in the face, no less. I've seen my share of shotgun wounds up close, and this officer is very lucky to be alive. The shooter got what he deserved. Thank God that the officer's brothers in arms were there.
I don't really know anything about how most departments would handle an officer injury of this nature? I think it's great that he gets to keep his job, but wouldn't loss of an eye commonly result in a career change?

The article stated that he will be back on duty as a police officer. The Annoyed Man wrote:And good Lord, shot with a shotgun in the face, no less. I don't really know anything about how most departments would handle an officer injury of this nature, but I assume that this is a career ender for him?

Re: Conroe Officer Shot in Face
When I first read about the officer losing an eye I wondered the same thing. That is one reason I posted the follow-up story. I imagine that some police departments would retire the officer for a medical disability or put him on some kind of restricted duty. The Annoyed Man wrote:You posted as I was editing my post.WildBill wrote:The article stated that he will be back on duty as a police officer. The Annoyed Man wrote:And good Lord, shot with a shotgun in the face, no less.
