So much for a speedy trial.
The trial should be speedy, just a long wait in jail for her to get to the speedy part. :evil2:

I just wish that My "Brothers and Sisters in the MP Corps" were in charge of her care.
She would be very well taken care of. "Of the Troops, For the Troops". The Sinners are left for God.
Wouldn't surprise me if she was one of the many "outstanding" individuals allowed to enter service with one or more "moral waivers" that some idiot approved a few years back.
In reply but starting to go OT.. What is a "moral waiver" you speak of? Approved by who? When?

Do we know she had a criminal record before joining the military or is it more idle conjecture?

There has been no information reported other than she was discharged from the Army December 14, 2010.

Here's a decent article: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/14/us/14military.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Psych cases, patterns of criminal conduct, all waived at enlistment for convenience.

I've had a few of these losers, and had to fight tooth and nail to get rid of them, despite the fact that they should have never been in uniform in the first place.

Had a few of them? What were there transgression in the Military?

Ive had little problem involuntary separating people from my units when conduct dictated so. :patriot: It all comes down to the leaders willingness to put in the time and work. Many are lazy, a few ignorant, some stupid, a few all three, leaders in those category "bitch and whine" about not being able to deal with, separate Soldiers with qualifying misconduct. The rest of us have no problems in my experience.
(EDIT NOTE: ok that sounded like I was calling you ignorant or worse.. NOT MY INTENT :txflag: I have heard of some chain of commands that make it difficult for junior leaders to separate soldiers for serious misconduct, that is the fault of BN/BDE leadership, not the company grade and below)

1: It's the NY Times.
2:
so-called “moral waivers”
Got it, it's a made up media term to sell the bent of the writer.
3:
The sharpest increase was in waivers for serious misdemeanors, which make up the bulk of all the Army’s moral waivers. These include aggravated assault, burglary, robbery and vehicular homicide.
The number of waivers for felony convictions also increased, to 11 percent of the 8,129 moral waivers granted in 2006, from 8 percent.
Waivers for less serious crimes like traffic offenses and drug use have dropped or remained stable.
Yup they include those things they also include speeding more then 20mph over the limit, an open alcohol container at the beach and a million other things many young people have done in their youth when they were 16-25 years old and new EVERYTHING.
4: I'm not implying I like the fact the department of defense and secretory of the Army lowered some standards.. for a few years.. I agree with you... was a bad idea then, worse idea now.
5: Any leader today that allows a Soldier in todays Army stay in having shown a pattern of misconduct (AR 635-200, chap 14-12b ) , or single serious incident(AR 635-200, chap 14-12c ) is a failure in my opinion. It is just not that hard to involuntarily separate them from service.

Failure to report, theft, alcohol related incidents, use of controlled substances, A.W.O.L., writing bad checks (in multiple states), A.P.F.T. failure, malingering, spousal abuse, you name it. Patterns of misconduct, similar to the patterns of misconduct they displayed prior to entering service. Go figure.

Unless you have the rank and command entitling you to be a separating authority, YOU didn't separate anyone, the respective commander did. Some of "us" did NOT have commanders that supported their subordinate commands.

Couldn't agree more.

The term "moral waiver" has been used in military regulations for years.

Technically of course your correct, :thumbs2: I'm just a Sergent Major not a commissioned officer, Realistically in units Ive been in for the last 25 years, the Non Commissioned officer was responsible for all the counseling, administrative paperwork / actions required and all functionary requirements to separate a Soldier with the exception of standing in front of an Officer to be read the final parts of a seperation, and said officers signature on the paper. The attitude "it's all there fault, I'm not really in charge.. there is nothing I can do" in my experience leads to much of what i wrote about above.

As you stated directly, in your situation is was your chain of commands fault.. :totap: Well then, umm, ok. I guess it works that way for some leaders and the units they are in.. :cheers2: Luckily I've not been in those type of units. Sucks you did not have the support you required. :patriot: Your not the first i have heard this type of response from, another member of this forum specifically has said much the same as you. It makes my head hurt to know that stuff happens.

Jim, thanks :patriot: I stand correct on that point. Having not been a recruiter in my time, I was under the misconception it was an exaggeration of the more common used term "waiver"

Not sure, have to ask the Officers that were responsible for his OER rating, Senor Rating and Direct supervision.
