Tyler homeowners forced to hide during invasion

(KLTV) "One of the victims says he was forced to hide in his home as the thieves made their way in."

http://www.kltv.com/global/story.asp?s=14309819

This story really erks me because how oblivious the guy is to someone breaking in. Like he doesn't get that someone would have potentially killed them. If I or most of us were in this situation they would have heard a 12 ga. rack in the bedroom and if that didn't prompt them to leave they would have got the business end.

"A potential dangerous situation stopped by his wife's good ears and police advice." Please...this was a dangerous situation were no one happen to get hurt. Clearly nothing was stopping the BG's from doing what whatever they pleased they just didn't want to get caught enough to stick around.

Another reason we own guns...

...be proactive...having seen prowlers earlier and having done nothing might have something to do with it...sounds like they're not prepared mentally to defend their home, much less physically...glad they weren't hurt...even yelling "I've got a gun" would have been better than nothing...man wasn't created to cower...

In my personal opinion, I would have shouted to the intruders that I was armed, and that if they made any attempt to enter the vicinity that I am, they will be shot. But other than that, just let them take the stuff and go. I have insurance for my property, but if a family member got shot because the BG was spraying bullets due to me perusing him, I couldn't live with myself.
