Campus Watch
March 15, 2011

Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 03/14/11 and Tuesday, 03/15/11.

***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE *****

As you have seen over the last few days there has been an increase in the number of Burglary of Motor Vehicles parked all over campus.

Please store guns in cars?

I have said over and over and over, the "crop" is potentially better in campus parking lots than Wal-Mart parking lots for criminals who look for "guns stored in cars"

Why don't people listen? :banghead: Hopefully they will tomorrow. ;-)

Burglary of vehicles has been on the rise since December according to APD. In March, there were close to 1,800 burglaries, compared to 1,400 in March of 2008.

Officers say the hot spots for burglaries are constantly changing, but they are usually along the hike and bike trail, near the UT campus, malls and hospital parking lots

Every university is required by Federal law to comply with the Cleary Act and post their crime reports publicly. Here's UTD's. You can probably find these for every university and compile the statistics, if you're that ambitious.
