Broken rail on glock

I don't believe this happened. This was a mighty and invincible Glock! They never break. They never jam. They run even when they've been immersed in frozen mud and stored in a rotting camel's corpse. You can throw them out of airplanes and shoot them with a .50 BMG and it won't even scratch the finish. No, this was a cheap knockoff like those fake Rolex watches.... ...or like a 1911.

A real Glock would have never broken.

However, it would have been back to the factory or gunsmith several times to "tweak the extractor," replace the slide stop, replace the grip safety with a beavertail to stop it from biting you, re-stake or reglue the plunger tube, and polish the feedramp to feed hollowpoints. But never for a broken rail. I love my Glocks and 1911's, but everything breaks at some point.

Shipped the g23 by fedex today. $63.00! At first they said I had to be a dealer to ship it. Once I convinced them that it was ok since I was shipping it to glock, they insisted it had to be shipped priority overnite. Now I understand the overnite thing but does it really have to be there by 10:30?
Just another scheme to take another few bucks.

If you don't mind violating FedEx or UPS policies, there is nothing in federal law that requires you to declare a firearm to a common carrier if you are shipping to an FFL.

18 USC §922(e) is the relevant section here--the other ones cited deal with transfers between unlicensed persons and with manufacturers shipping guns back to the customer after repair.

Got the glock back today. Not bad, 2 week turn around. They put a new frame on it. Only thing that is a little weird now is I have different SN's on the frame and the slide/barrel. No biggie.

The only one that matters is the one on the frame. That's what to record if you ever dispose of it. Well, I'd keep track of both, just because.

Very soon we can test that theory...Anyone want to pony up a sacrificial Glock for a .50 BMG demonstration???

There was a recall/frame upgrade on certain "E" series G23s. If yours fell into the recalled group then Glock should have paid for the shipping in my opinion. With that said, there are different reports (posted on the Glock forum) concerning the "frame upgrade". Some said that Glock did pay shipping both ways and others said Glock didn't pay shipping. Supposedly they would replace the frame and use the same serial number and put a "1" in front of it. I see that you got yours back and it had a new serial. I don't know all the details but I do know that if you call Glock they can tell you if yours fell within the serial number that needed the frame upgrade. Maybe you already did that but if it was on the recall/upgrade list I'd perhaps ask them to reimburse you for shipping. Just a thought.

Yes it was an E series, no they would not pay shipping both ways. One thing that I did notice - it was shipped back to me second day instead of overnite. If fedex would have let me do that it would have been half the cost.
I can't complain too much, I got a great deal on the gun even with the cost of shipping to glock and now it is basically a new gun.

You got ripped off... I have a FedEx account so I do it all on-line and they pick it up at my house. In 2010 I sent no less then 4 pistols to have work done and they all cost me under $20.00 US out of Texas. Its not over night, it has to be 2 day for pistols. You can set up an at home FedEx account on your CPU for free. Its nice around X-mass and peoples B-days, Oh and its nice for shipping firearms and ammo.
