It's not what you think and it is not me, but I can't stop laughing about it! Guy was disassembling his weapon when the following occurred:

Well, I held the lever in place and the slide launched itself off the frame, due to the angle. Right into and thru my favorite teacup, destroying it.

Rule #2! Never let the muzzle of a gun point at anything you do not want to destroy or kill.

I've had the slide of my CZ-75 launch across the room once. It happened while I was working the action after oiling and before I put the slide stop back in. I had inadvertantly ended up with some oil on my fingers and lost my grip. I was observing Rule #2, not pointing at anything of particular value but not down either and the slide went several feet across the room and landed on the carpet. No real damage to anything was caused but it sure was a surprise. I could see how it could have broken something glass if it had been in the way. Since then I've been more careful to put the stop back in before working the slide at all and made sure I'm pointed at the mat on the table while doing so.

Since only a favorite teacup was destroyed, I guess it doesn't
make much difference whether he did it with an FMJ or JHP slide. :-)

A buddy of mine was learning the interior works of my glock when he slid the slide back on but not hard enough and it slid off onto the ground. It was like slow motion.

That kinda reminds me of a time at work when I was reassembling my Beretta M9, but forgot to flip up the take-down lever before releasing the slide stop. I had the muzzle facing down. The slide shot down, hit the floor, the recoil spring & guide rod popped out, & the spring went flying! It took a while to find that dang spring.
