Pictures in Signature Line
As the success of this forum continues to grow, there are things discovered that need attention to keep the forum on track and focused on our primary goal of being the place to discuss issues relating to the legal carrying of firearms in the great state of Texas.
One such area has been brought to the moderator’s attention. The issue is pictures in the signature line of member’s posts. So far, the photos used have been in good taste and meet the requirements of the forum. The issue is a number of them have gotten so large as to be distracting. The moderators and Administration of the forum discussed the issue at length and have determined that photos in the signature line can be no larger that 128 x 128. Any photo must be in good taste and be acceptable to viewers of all ages. Any photos not meeting the above guidelines will be deleted. Any member who currently has a photo that does not meet the new size limit has until December 7 to change them.
By limiting the size of photos, members can still demonstrate their individuality in a way that does not distract others on the forum. Thank you for your support.

I like self-moderating forums, but every now and then, there's someone (or -two or -three) standing out in an irritating way.
I'm all for personalization, but I've seen some forums that consist of one-line replies, followed by a half page of graphics, pics, and sig lines... over and over and over and over in the same thread.
Irritating, at best.
So, from one of the "just text, thanks!" old-school folks: thank you.
Kevin

I actually did not know that it was that large, I use several different monitors at a couple of different computers and just don't pay much attention to the size, it was only after I saw the notice that I bothered to check the size, and change to a different one I already had one hand.
That said, I still think same day is kind of short notice, and the wording actually indicates that the change would have to be made before the notice was posted - "until December 7" would suggest that once 12/07 started it would be too late, maybe "until December 8" or "until 11:59pm CST December 7" would have been better.

I have to apologize. I did not realize what you were saying and I doubt the other moderators noticed. I don't think we are that ruff are we?jimlongley wrote:I actually did not know that it was that large, I use several different monitors at a couple of different computers and just don't pay much attention to the size, it was only after I saw the notice that I bothered to check the size, and change to a different one I already had one hand.

Thanks to the Mods here. This has been a self regulating forum pretty much with very few exceptions.
At work the large pictures don't bother me but since I have an older laptop at home ( the boss won't let me on her desk top that she got last Christmas) I was having to scroll over to read most posts with pictures. (I was hoping to use this as an excuse for a new laptop But alas, no more).
Again, Thanks to Charles and all of the Moderators for keeping us in check. Still my #1 forum.
