11 LEOs Shot in 24 Hours

I do not know if this the right place for this post.

Just finished reading an interesting article.

Authorities are worried a recent wave of police officer shootings may not be a coincidence.

In just 24 hours, at least 11 cops were shot around the country.

Let's hope the article is wrong and that there is not a "war on cops going on".

Those that perpetrate crimes directed at police really scare me.

If you read the story, one theme emerges. Stop releasing violent criminals from jail. Our legal system is far too lenient on criminals, and the police are paying the price for it, as is the public at large. It's time to put a stop to leniency and punish the offenders appropriately.

The above link is about 2 Florida LEO's who were shot to death in St. Petersburg.
I have read several stories about this one. The BG was hiding in the attic of his
home and he ambushed the officers by shooting down to them. It was reported on one
site that 100 rounds were exchanged during this incident.

And yes, this guy had a very long rap sheet.

Seems this is as good a place as any to post this YouTube video that was emailed to me today. A little digging and seems this is in response to the in-line-of-duty killing of a San Francisco police officer. The man speaking to the media is - I THINK - the head of the local police union.

VERY powerful statements he makes. Absoultely agree with every word of it too. An older incident, but worth watching especially in terms of recitivism.

...once the laws are passed, they should be impartially enforced, from the arrest or citation through the completion of the sentence, and politics should not taint/affect that process...sad truth is, a lot of arrests AREN'T made, and a lot ARE made, to further the careers/strengthen the voting base of those in the line of process...and NOT to administer fair and effective justice...

Politics have a bearing on it, yes. But simple economics also has an effect. Local governments are trying to save money by releasing offenders.

I ain't saying I like it, just that it happens more often than not.

...didn't even think of that part...probably a LOT more of that than the political problem...and that leaves us dealing with still MORE who should still be behind bars...I think Sheriff Joe could show 'em some cost-cutting measures...and ways to cut the repeat offender rate radically!!!

Here is a follow-up on the suspect in the Oregon shooting

Cop-shooting outdoorsman flees into Oregon woods

Authorities are still looking for David Anthony Durham, who they believe shot Dodds on Sunday night before leading police on a speed chase on the Oregon Coast. Durham fled into on foot and is still at large.

Durham is described by his brother, Michael, as an avid outdoorsman who designed his own camouflage clothing. Police say he may be holed up in a vacation home in a secluded neighborhood less than a block from the Pacific Ocean.
