Facing a possible health challenge...

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

I finally got my biopsy scheduled. It's going to be on February 7th, at 2:45.

My doctor told me it will take about a week to get the results back.

You'll be okay. Try not to worry about it (said the guy who doesn't have a biopsy scheduled). Y'all caught it early on.

Good luck and God Bless.

I had a bit of a scare with my recent annual physical as my PSA has gone up with every year. My primary care physician suggested I get a biopsy. He recommended I see a urologist to have the procedure.

I was examined by a highly regarded urologist and who, after the exam, went on to tell me a biopsy was unnecessary and that PSA readings were the reason for many, many unnecessary surgeries. He stated that PSA findings were simply not reliable indicators of prostate cancer.

I fully understand your worry, but it's highly likely you don't have cancer. Or, if you do, you can live with it without surgery and it's concomitant side affects, as often the cure (surgery) is far more deleterious than living with the cancer as it may not affect you for your entire life, without shortening your life one iota.

Hang in there!

HUGE PRAISE!!! I went for my biopsy today, and the first part was an ultrasound exam which they do to try and map out the prostate, find its edges, measure it, etc. If possible they try and learn what they can about the tumor before sticking a bunch of biopsy needles in there.

So the doctor sticks the ultrasound probe in there, and I hear a "Hmmmm!" So I ask what's wrong, and he says "Nothing, but you don't need a biopsy." So it turns out that the "tumor" which he had been pretty sure would turn out to be cancer is actually just a lump of inert calcified tissue. He said that it's very rare to see a calcium deposit that large, which is why he was expecting to see a cancerous tumor.

Anyway, I am cancer free, I don't have to worry aout the calcium thingie, oh, and after being told for the last 11 years that I have an enlarged prostate, the ultrasound today revealed that it is normal size.

God is good, and He hears the prayers of his people.

As an Agnostic, just to be safe I said a little prayer for you TAM. Ya never know, right? In any case I'm thrilled for you, having been down this route myself. Now, in true Agnostic fashion, I must decide if the prayers of the forum members worked, or that the potential cancer was just too scared of "annoying" the "The Annoyed Man." Always a dilema ;-)

I am thrilled for you! Also - it needs to be noted that I respect and admire your reaction to this trial/experience. Your faith is an example for others to follow, and I hope they do. I vote the thread title be changed to something reflecting God's goodness.
