Fox reported this story this morning as well, and reported the shooter was a CHL holder.

These guys picked a fight with the wrong guy.....proud to be his neighbor! Kudos to his next door neighbor for getting involved as well.

Our hero was aware of his surroundings and willing to be aggressive fast enough to prevail.

Any luck and there will be a nasty staph infection for the wounded perp......shame we'll get to see these juvenile thugs back out on the street before too long. Anyone willing to openly confront a potential "victim" like this is like a mad dog that should be put down.

My prayers go out for the man and his family and my thanks as well. I live very close to him and this could have easily been my family. These guys are suspected in at least four other robberies like this in the same area so it is a great service he did last night.

Wow. Surprisingly level reporting from KTRK. I don't normally expect that from ABC or any of its affiliates. Thanks, Katie McCall.

Picked up by Channel 2 now. Maybe our demographics are starting to favor us.

At night. Aware he was being followed. Had an advance plan to get the kids to safety.

You would think that BG's would make sure that the tools of their trade (i.e. cars etc.) are in good working order before "going out on a job". But I guess that's why they are BG's. Kudos for the CHL'er and his decisive action.

If a puppy was rabid, you wouldn't keep letting him out to play with the neighborhood children.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

The coverage does seem to be generally good here. But this paragraph from the Fox TV written report really bugs me. I seriously doubt the CHLee actually said this. Makes him sound like a vigilante, upset that it took this long before he was able to shoot someone.
The homeowner said he obtained a concealed handgun license a few years ago to protect his family, and unfortunately it wasn’t until Monday that he had to use it.

I noticed that too .. I'm sure the reporter meant "fortunately" it wasn't until Monday ... or "unfortunately" he had to use it Monday ...probably one of the many who also say "irregardless" when they mean "regardless"

Nice that the guy had a plan and it worked.

If I notice someone following me however, I am not driving all the way to my home and confronting them in my driveway.

I might drive into a police station or fire station after calling 911.

+1 for the homeowner.

You beat me to it. That was the main thing that stuck out in my head. I hope he meant he didn't have to use it until Monday and that was an unfortunate incident.
