AMC Gulfpointe - Houston

#1

Post by tllstaco »

Has anyone been to the AMC Gulfpoint Theater at BW8 and the GUlf Freeway lately? If so, is it 30.06 posted?

I checked Texas3006 and the entries I saw indicated it was no longer posted.

I was saying that tongue-in-cheek, but only partially so. We quit going there and opted for the Cinemark location in Webster a few miles south. (It's closer to our home in Friendswood anyway.) The Beltway 8 location's parking lot seemed to be a rally point for young would-be gang types and while "dinner, movie, and a gun fight" would have made an interesting evening, we opt for a more sedate night out. I don't think the neighborhoods around the Beltway 8 AMC are a problem, but I'm not sure.

Agreed - Gulfpoint, Greenspoint, and Sharpstown - all good places to not be.

We have a tradition where we catch a movie on Christmas morning. The AMC Gulfpointe had the earliest showing of the movie we wanted to see at 9:30am. Guess maybe we'll go to Sugarland's AMC instead.

My family is a bit weird I guess, we usually don't go out after the sun goes down.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

I always carry extra mags. 2 for my primary and 2 for my BUG. Gives me 50+ rounds readily available.

I don't do those things to other people and I require the same of them.

I've been to gulfpointe during matinee hours and the crowd wasn't scary at all. Not sure what it would be like after dark, though....

They're not called

Gunpoint, Gunspoint, and Sharpshooter malls for nothing.

You wouldn't catch me at any of them.

It turns into one of those locations that the thug wannabe highschool kids, ( and some a little older) go and hang out. they almost always have police hanging around the parking lot or up near the front on the weekends, but with such a large parking lot im sure its only so helpful.

that being said, I dont have a theater close to me that does not draw that kind of crowed, so on the rare chance I go to the theaters its normally the one I choose, I have yet to have any trouble but I wouldnt go unarmed ;-)

I'm not sure why, but I don't care for the Cinemark. I still prefer the AMC. When I go to movies, it's pretty much always an early show. I've never felt weird/nervous/scared. During daylight hours, it's fine.

And, since I've only had my card a day and a half, my feelings aren't because I carry.

Luckily bad things only happen at night and when you feel weird/nervous/scared. :eek6

Reloading is a hassle. Lately I have just been carrying an extra BUG. 28 rounds all together (16 in primary, 5 in pocket carry BUG, and 7 in the ankle holstered BUG). If there's more than a dozen BG's I'm probably done for, but I figure I'll take my chances.
