Anyone have any experience with this scope? Other recommendations in the same price range - around $ 300?

excellent scope for the money. I have the 2x8 on a RRA predator and its great.
my older eyes would have liked the 3x12 better.

Brother Inlaw, has the 3x12 and loves it. :txflag:

D., I have a lot of experience with Nikon's M-223 line of scopes. The 1-4 is one of my top 5 favorites. I have one on an AR and one on a 22lr.
This scope will do all you want it to do at close range and still get you out to 200-300 yards to roll up Mr. Coyote. When I really want to reach out past 200 yards I like the M-223 3-12x42 with the Rapid Action Turret. This scope is designed for the .223 cal and 55 gr. polymer tipped bullet that roughly has a muzzle velocity of 3240 fps. The turret system on this scope will literally allow you to dial in the yards you want to shoot, out to 600 yards. Before I got this scope I never would have considered shooting my .223's past 300 yards, not because they aren't capable of that accuracy but because I wasn't. Not anymore! Go to Nikonhunting.com and check them, I think you will be very happy!

Leupold makes the Mark AR 1.5-4 x20 with bullet drop compensator. I'm selling those for $275. They also have the 3-9x40 with bullet drop compensator for under $300. The Nikon's seem to be about $100 more.

I have the M-223 3-12x 42mm mounted on an SPS Tactical in .223. I have only had it for about a month and only put 200 or so rounds down range with it but I really enjoy the rapid action turret system. So far I have shot it at 50, 100, and 200 yards and the zero stays right on with just a twist of the knob. I plan on taking it to the ranch in Junction after Christmas and trying it out to 600 yards, I will post my results. I have all intentions to get the 4x for my AR.

How would you compare the two against each other? How is the clarity and the reticle?

How does it compensate for different barrel lengths? Will it be acceptable for a 10.5" barrel?

I will be a couple months before I can mount one, maybe someone else can give the comparison. I do not think you could go wrong with either one.

The BDC would work the same no matter what length barrel assuming the use of 55grn FMJ. I understand the velocity might change a bit depending on barrel length but the concept is the same.

Their inventory tracker is the worst I have EVER seen. I have gotten all excited about their price and availability on several occasions just to get an email an hour later saying they don't have the product I have already gotten an order confirmation on :bigmouth. I absolutely hate Opticsplanet!

I have never had a problem in 5 scopes over the years...super fast shipping. One back order on a order once don't remember what.
They ship the parts out through a "Fullfillment Warehouse" don't actually have inventory like a lot of retail online dealers these days.
Sometimes the info they get from a warehouse in incorrect.I have orderd all kinds of other stuff too...One back order.I still use them.

+1 for Optics Planet from me as well. They have always come through. Sorry to hear anyone has had issues with them.
