Gunman dead after opening fire at Florida school meeting
Rambling gunman dead after opening fire at Florida school meeting.
Watch the lady come behind the guy and try to knock the gun away with her purse. Very brave or maybe very stupid. Lucky she didn't get shot. Everyone was very calm during the whole incident.

To me, this re-inforces the effectiveness that one person with a gun can have in an active shooter situation and the need for campus carry. In almost all cases the shooter turns the gun on himself once he meets resistance. That one person who happened to have a gun is probably the only thing that prevented one or more of the board members from being killed before the police arrived. Those against campus carry don't seem willing to admit that this type of outcome is even possible.

Imagine if her purse was a firearm. It would have been over much quicker. To me, this reinforces the effectiveness that one person with a gun can have in an active shooter situation and the need for campus carry.
However, if y'all where in the position of the old lady, would y'all have pulled the trigger?

Absolutely. However, if y'all where in the position of the old lady, would y'all have pulled the trigger?
And I would not have stopped until he no longer posed a threat.

What is the difference between a "gunman" and "a man with a gun"?
Just wonderin'...

Interesting video ... much to ponder here. As to that 'brave' woman with a purse, it it were I, I would have made sure that I had my CHL license with me and my Kimber 45 on my belt and I would have run away from that meeting room as fast as my little feet would move me and called 911 once I am out of the building and behind a big tree.
It is not my job to be police, or arbiter of arguments ... my job is to defend my life (and the lives of my loved ones) only. Anyway ... my 2 cents worth.

I would like to think that not only would I shoot him, I would shoot him square in the back. Considering how close she got without him knowing she was there, one could imagine a scenrio where one would walk up and put a gun to his head and tell him to drop it, but I think he would not have complied. Probably better just to put a bunch of round COM and keep shooting until he stops reacting.McKnife wrote:Imagine if her purse was a firearm. I cant believe not a man in the place took advantage of the opportunity she gave them.

Better not have your gun on; can't carry on in a school building. That would include administrative buildings.hangfour wrote:Interesting video ... much to ponder here. The problem on these types of situations is shock. Most people are just dumbfounded and are like sitting ducks not thinking or realizing what is about to come next.longtooth wrote:I cant believe not a man in the place took advantage of the opportunity she gave them.
That is where a little tactical and self defense training and thinking on your feet (or in this case butt) comes into play.

Hmmm?
School board security had guns? School board security shot man with gun when school board was in background. Guy in red coat who did not get up when Woman tried to knock gun from BG's hand sure beat a path when lead started flyin'.
What would the Oldgringo have done? I dunno'...

Very correct. They did nothing because that is what they had traind themselves to do. Nothing
I tell my students when the adrenaline dumps you will not "rise to the occasion." You will immediately be reduced to you your every day level of constant training. If you have trained yourself to do nothing that is exactly what you will do. Nothing.

Hmmm?
School board security had guns and shot at BG with school board members as backdrop. The guy in the red coat who didn't move when woman tried to knock gun out of BG's hand must have been on the track team when he was in school.
What would the Oldgringo have done if on the board, I dunno'...
