They will take your ammo.

I always clear my pistol in the truck before going into a gun show here in the metroplex and have it tie wrapped at the door. My first market hall show they asked if I had any ammo on me, and being the honest person that I am I showed them my magazine. It was either empty the magazine and give them the ammo, or walk back out to the truck then stand in line again. I was not a happy camper. First thing I did when I got in was buy a box of Hydra Shok's.

Mainly did it for the irony of it all. It just seemed silly for them to take away 8 rounds of ammo when there were many cases for sale just inside the entry.

ALL ammo containers are supposed to be sealed - and remain that way. Among others, DACA has this guy they call "The Jolly Green Giant" who patrols the floor looking for unsafe conditions - and he sometimes ain't very "jolly" if he finds violations. ;-)

Their sandbox, their rules. ' Been quite a while since an ND at Market Hall show. Just trying to keep it that way.

I just got back from the show. It was well attended. I had to wait in line about 15 minutes to get in the door. I got there around 11:00.

I didn't see any deals I couldn't live without. The more of these I go to, the more I think the best deals are the new pistols/rifles at the big tables. I can find better prices on most of the other stuff either locally or through the web.

I did have an interesting dicussion with a vendor selling Glaco holsters. He was adamant that their thumb break holsters were designed for the 1911 to be carried cocked and locked. When I showed him the instructions that said otherwise he just got mad and said it was a "misprint".

I went today too. I have to agree that there are not many good deals to be had.

Yep, quite a few folks today. Some isles were moving very slowly at times.

In what little wandering I had time to do, one thing that appeared "new" at Big State table (northeast quadrant) was a 40-round drum for 1911s (made by ProMag). The honcho claimed his gun ran "flawlessly" with the thing. But, for $60+ tax (and the price of .45 ammo), I passed. For now. ;-)

I went, and had so much of a good time, I started a thread.
enjoy.
I need to take a TacFlashlight back, so I'll be there tomorrow, as well.
hopefully not as expensive a trip Sunday as it was Saturday.
Still wanna get a lil .380 for my lil lady, but I din't see any that were just jumpin' off the tables at me.

I think the "big" deals at GunShows are found with your handmade stuff, loose ammo (I bought a boat load of .38Spl for much less than SportsMan's), and things of that nature. It's like buying a car, you can go to every dealership and not find too much of a difference in the price.
but where else can you walk around and check out ALL that stuff at one time.
Like guitar shows, smaller stuff (the knife I bought, pepper spray, stun guns) they can sell at cost.

The wife, our 2 1/2 year old and I went today. It was crowded, but I had a good time. Wife volunteered to go, but I felt bad for her and the kiddo pretty quick. She bought me a Kel Tec P3AT as an early Christmas gift. Now to get to the range and break it in. I think this will be my running gun.
