Well he shipped four guns for me within a 2 week period. A USPS tracking number never showed signature delivery for one of the guns so I emailed the dealer and he did have the gun and the customer picked it up. In the email I asked the receiving dealer what the tracking number was on the package but all he said was that he received the gun (probably didn't have the packaging any more). I have email traffic that the other three guns were received so I'll keep that on hand.
I do know who the SD dealer was because he was shipped a gun that I sold a few days before the Five Seven went out. I will call him to check that the Five Seven was sent back to my dealer and see what he says.

My husband, who is far less cynical than me this week, suggested that the FFL might have put the wrong shipping label on the package. He said that would explain how it was mailed but the tracking number never showed up in the system.

I'm afraid I may be just as cynical as you, Hoi...Wrong shipping labels happen, but they create problems on two shipments at once...don't ask how I know this :)Hoi Polloi wrote:My husband, who is far less cynical than me this week, suggested that the FFL might have put the wrong shipping label on the package. <End Bitter Cynicism> I sincerely hope this is all one big silly mistake and all is well.
And I'm sure you can FTF a FiveSeveN here, if you want to :)

Re: Possible Stolen FNH Five Seven
Well my poor little Five Seven is back home and in my safe. I asked my dealer how he found out that the wrong FFL dealer had the Five Seven and he told me that Fed Ex actually tracked it down. Fed Ex knew the date and approximate time the package was delivered to Fed Ex and so I guess they tracked down the packages that went out during that same time period and found the darn thing. My dealer did send it to the wrong FFL and had the wrong tracking number. I call the dealer in SD today and he indeed had received the gun and was holding it for the "customer" (who of course never called him). Inside the gun case was my dealer's FFL with phone number and my name with my phone number and the buyer's name (no phone number). I'll always wonder how long the SD dealer would have kept that Five Seven on his shelf/in his safe.
But alls well that ends well. I have my Five Seven and it looks just as new as when I left it off for shipping. My dealer gave me back my shipping fee and I didn't mention the auction fee that I had to pay when I sold the gun (Merry Christmas). He has more gray hair than before this incident and I already have some gray hair so no big deal. His wife said he was sweating having to pay for a Five Seven and that he'll be sure to get a receipt for every shipment from now on (at least he will with my shipments I'm sure).
I have a copy of the police report. He already notified the police and ATF that the gun had been found. He is going to have the police run the serial in a few weeks to see that it is not showing up as stolen any longer. That's all I would need, to be stopped by the police (for speeding no doubt), have them run my Five Seven's serial and arrest me for having a stolen gun.
Well I'm off to Choctaw for a little R&R and some slot/blackjack action. Taking my 83 year old mother gambling for her birthday and will stay a couple of nights at their new hotel. Will soak in the indoor pool and go to the spa. My mother normally comes back with all of her money or a little extra, I don't know how she has such good luck. I literally have to pry her hands off the slot machine handles to get her to finally come home. As for me, I may as well just burn my money now.
I am keeping the Five Seven for now. Later if I need the money I'll put it up for sale locally.

To the OP:
Completely and totally and unforgivably off topic, but....
When you're up at Choctaw, and you're hanging out around the pool or the breezeways or the spa, and you see all the really cool stone work that's been done...
I sold all the stone up there.

Re: Possible Stolen FNH Five Seven
Gorgeous stone at Choctaw. We pass by a large retail stone company on the way to Choctaw and I always say "gee, look at all that gorgeous stone". I love stonework....both hardscape and inside homes. My best friend has a guest bath that has a brick floor (bricks are laid on edge I think) and it's really great looking. I never imaged brick would look so good as a flooring. The rest of the home has hand scraped wood, slate and travertine (I think) floors. Marble speckled deep green counters in the kitchen and master bath and black marble in the 1/2 bath. The only stone I have at my house is a tumbled stone patio for my backyard. Even if I could afford stone, I can't afford the labor.
