Gun Carry in Vehicle

I knew about this law and have been following it for quite some time now. I have a concern about some of the information in this story though. Point #4 states that the gun must be in your name. Is this correct?

No, it is not true. This is another case of bad reporting. In Texas there is no such thing as a gun "being in your name." There is a thread running on this topic. :tiphat:

That's correct, it must be in my name, contact your local FFL to transfer it into my name ...
(Just kidding, sorry; see the other thread ;-) )

Just for kicks, you can author a "proof of ownership" document on MS Word. Include make, model, caliber, and obviously your information as you are the owner. Make sure the title is in type calligraphy, and that there is a fancy printed border. Bonus points for using cardstock.

Then you may show it to anyone dumb enough to look at it.

Embossing a picture of your CHL Badge on the certificate will make it look more official.

Tie the whole thing together in a presentation box with your brand-spanking-new CHL Sash, and you're good to go ANYWHERE!!! :smilelol5:

That would be the crimson red satin sash, worn pirate style, with a gold embossed embroidered CHL badge, wouldn't it? :biggrinjester:

Nah, it's a recurring joke that rears its head frequently. The CHL badge, sash, and tiara are never off topic for anything on this board. They universally relate to everything regarding Texas firearms, and the laws surround them.

My brother was relieved of his 1911 (that was once my grandfathers) on a traffic stop in Nevada because it was not registered to him! It took him some time and money to get it back.

But officer, it was a gift for my 45th birthday from Alex Colton Peterson, see, he engraved that, so I'd remember.
I called him Colt for short.
