MTAC holster
I picked up a minotaur MTAC holster for my Glock 19.
It seems to be a comfortable holster except for the rearmost clip sticks out on the inside.
Am I doing something wrong or should I just cut the end of that clip down to the hole I am using?

Re: MTAC holster
I had the same problem, especially with dress slacks.
I wore mine for a couple of weeks just to make sure I liked where it rode, and then cut the clips. Problem solved. if you change your mind later, new clips are about $20.

Re: MTAC holster
It all depends on how high (or low) you want the holster to ride. If you like it to ride high, then a lot of clip will stick out. Get it comfortable, and wear it like that for a couple of weeks. If you still like it after a couple of weeks then cut off the excess.

Re: MTAC holster
yep. cut 'em off. use some sand paper to smooth off the edges. awesome holster. i never thought i'd be able to carry my Glock 17.
Re: MTAC holster
I got an MTAC just recently...will be here soon I think.
Hopefully the standard clips are enough for me. Does anyone use the V-Clips on these?

Re: MTAC holster
The standard clips are surprisingly good enough to hold a gun in place for all day carry. Once the leather forms to your body the rig is very comfortable.

i use V-clips on my MTAC with my Springfield XD9sc.Droshi wrote:Does anyone use the V-Clips on these?
I have however put my Brother-In-Laws XDm 4.5 in the same holster, and the V-clips hold very well with that weapon and 19 round mag
I do however also use a Crossbreed Gun-belt with the Velcro they applied (stitched in?) at time of order.
When I first started carrying, I used the C-clips and kept hitting my fingers on the clips and it drove me nuts, so I had to find a better alternative.
So now, not only do I not keep nicking my fingers, people do not see the C-clips over the top of the belt either

Re: MTAC holster
MTAC actually arrived today along with my kydex reinforced belt. I have a P7 PSP for reference when reading below.
My initial impressions are that while it's ok, it seems just like any holster, that it's adding thickness to the gun and my waistline in general. I'm hoping that the leather does break in more as people have said, and that it wraps around my body more. Currently the 3 o'clock position I just can't do because the leather is not flexible enough (or maybe it just isn't shaped for the way I have it there).
After feeling like my arms were tearing off (working with cramming the thing into my waistband in so many different positions), I tried to fit the pistol where I thought it should be without the holster, and then try it with the holster after that. So far, the only place that really seems concealable is at 4 o'clock. The problem is that sitting in a car isn't too comfortable, and bending over seems to really show the butt of the gun and hang up on clothing when standing back up.
Any suggestions? How do people get this thing to appendix carry or at 3 o'clock? I think 3 o'clock would be the most comfortable when standing or sitting, but my rig seems too inflexible. It also doesn't tuck well at that position.
Maybe I'm expecting too much from this, but I feel like now I should have gotten the SmartCarry first and dealt with this later on...
At least the belt is really nice! :)

Re: MTAC holster
i just a coulple of weeks, if you wear it every day for 6-8 hours a day, the leather will conform to your body quite nicely, and even after that it will conform more as well.Droshi wrote:but my rig seems too inflexible
I wear mine at 3:30.
When i got mine, it was horrible (in my mind). Felt very weird, uncomfortable and just all around strange.
But I was going to carry a weapon and knew that I had to get used to it, and that all things new, would be strange.
So I carried. Just dealt with the scratching of my side, dealt with it feeling uncomfortable, and read more on this forum on what to do.
In 2 weeks or so, I basically forgot I was wearing it (even in a car) and all has been good ever since. Then I got a Crossbreed belt and it got even better.... so you are a step ahead of me on that one.
This is how I put my holster on:
Put my pants on, leave the button unbuttoned, along with the zipper down. (if you are using C or J clips (as opposed to Velcro clips), put your belt on. --- I use Velcro Clips, so holster goes on first, then the belt)
Put the holster (without gun in it) about 3:30 and then zip and button up the pants.
I can slide the holster back or front a bit unless the belt loops get in the way, then I have to unzip and unbutton, and pull it off, and put it back on around the belt loops.
Give it time, it gets better

I wear mine at 3:00 and find it very comfortable now. A couple of tips that will probably be obvious to most people but I learned the hard way.Droshi wrote:MTAC actually arrived today along with my kydex reinforced belt. I have a P7 PSP for reference when reading below.

1. You can't just stick it your existing pants. You will need to wear pants that 1-2" larger than you normal waist size when you use an IWB holster.
2. When I first started wearing this holster I was so worried about it coming in to view that I wore my belt really tight. This was not too bad when I was standing but was painful whenever I sat down. Loosening the belt one notch made a huge difference in comfort.
Re: MTAC holster
Good points.
I have a pair of pants that's quite a bit big, but maybe I should try a smaller pair. The reason is that there's quite a bit of space on either side of the holster when at 3 o'clock. It just doesn't press up against my body nice and tight like it does at 4-5 o'clock. I just don't care for it back that far....
Overall I think I like the MTAC. The adjustability in the end is sure to win me over, but for now means there's a lot of combinations to try!

Re: MTAC holster
Just an update....
I've found a pretty good position at 2 o'clock. Something I've never really heard people talk about, but it rides pretty nice there, it's almost on the hip bone, which seems like it wouldn't work. But in that position the grip is well concealed directly under my armpit (no printing when sitting or bending). Sitting is also comfortable, but can require a quick adjustment...much better than 1 o'clock appendix carry. I also feel in this position that if I get hug assaulted that it wouldn't be a big deal, could also turn slightly just to make sure.
All-in-all, I'm fairly happy. It's not a perfect solution for every situation, but for that I've just ordered a SmartCarry to have the option of deep concealment in hot weather or little clothing. If I like that method, I might not have to purchase a mousegun for pocket carry.
