What happens when someone attacks you at your exercise place that you "thought" wasn't "so bad that [you] had to carry"? If I could, with 100% accuracy, predict every place I do and don't need to protect myself, I'd never go anywhere I might need a gun. But that's not realistic, is it?Jim Lockey wrote:If I thought my exercise place was so bad that I had to carry my weapon I would find another place. I don't carry my weapon in my house either.

I do, that's why they call those things "HOME" invasions. Home invasions normally occur in nice safe neighborhoods where there is something worth stealing; not in slums where people have nothing worth stealing.Jim Lockey wrote:If I thought my exercise place was so bad that I had to carry my weapon I would find another place. So, you go to a nice looking LA fitness club in a decent part of town like this one in the video below?
5 Dead in Pittsburgh Health Club Shooting

His motivation was the same as the Luby's shooter's
(Why would anyone need a gun at Luby's? Another Cafeteria might be safer?)

I could post many more, but I won't.
I only carry 3 or 4 pistols to church.
If you are at a health club I'm at, and all heck breaks loose, quick, wave your CHL at me, I usually carry spare pistols and can toss you one .... but I might not be there that day, so maybe you should carry your own.
The electronics store where I was robbed was on a main street with police visible through the windows, the 2 robbers were a little scared.
The lumber yard+True Value hardware store where I was robbed by those 5 guys with pistols and 2 shotguns, those guys were not scared. They got away with robbing the kroger grocery store a week earlier, leaving a produce clerk in critical condition.
I don't go to "bad" parts of town, but robbers rob people everywhere, especially where there is something worth robbing for.
Like the ones who follow people home from stores. Several used to follow people home from jewelry store in the Galleria, and rob them later.
But crazies can be anywhere.

There at least 50 or more people working out at 24 hr fitness in Mesquite, Tx. daily. Some are cops, fireman, several ministers, teachers and I can go on. All of your paranoid reasons don''t fly.

That debate could go on for pages, and not that it matters - but, I got the idea the OP was asking more about outdoor activities, not so much indoor gyms.
Re: Concealing in workout clothes
So what you're saying is that you don't feel the need to protect yourself because you rely on others to do it for you? Oh, now I get it.Jim Lockey wrote:There at least 50 or more people working out at 24 hr fitness in Mesquite, Tx. daily. Some are cops, fireman, several ministers, teachers and I can go on. Jim, respectfully, I really don't consider it paranoia after personally having 7 guns pointed at me so far while being robbed; and having an uncle (W.J. Galloway) and his wife, Modena, were murdered in their home .. I consider it reality.Jim Lockey wrote:There at least 50 or more people working out at 24 hr fitness in Mesquite, Tx. daily. As far as you should be safe because of the numbers of police at your health club, Google shooting "Police Station"

Actually, it would surprise me if WJ ever had "large sums of cash" but that's way off topic .... sorry

No "warhammer ", I can protect myself, but if someone did jump on me my wife of 50 years might jump on them. At a very public place people my age don't think of someone jumping on them. Maybe at your age the might.

Re: Concealing in workout clothes
Anyway, I have 2 belly bands, one has Velcro for a shoulder strap for heavier guns.
One is "conceal it" and I don't see a label on the other.
Belly bands and ankle holsters vary so much in fit and quality, I rarely use them though, I still prefer a lightweight pistol and IWB when at all possible.
You could get one of those warmup/workout suits ...
I'm anxious to see a new Sig P290 9mm ultra-tiny DAO not on the market yet ....
Here it is http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCa ... ductid=307" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- Lightweight sub-compact
- Available in 9mm
- Optional integrated laser
Sights SIGLITE® or Contrast Sights
- DAO Trigger
I like lightweight for working out, but a 9mm would be better than my diamondback .380 or keltec .380

No mention of who was in the LA fitness that was shot up in PA, so your anti-carry-justifications don't fly.

I sure wish somebody would change the title to this thread -- every time I see it I think it says "Concealing without clothes!"

Sorry that I bit the bait that the troll threw out there about just going some place safe. He's clearly made up his mind and can't be bothered by facts or reality.
Moving on...
I get a catalog in the mail from Duluth Trading Co. that has a lot of pretty neat clothes, mostly designed as work clothes. They sell a "Longtail T" shirt that is 3 inches longer than a standard t shirt. That might be a good t-shirt for your workout clothes to help keep your gun covered up.

Depending on the type of workout, gun and pants, IWB just might not fly though.
I still think this is one of those occasions where a fanny pack would be a no brainer. I don't work out in a gym, but carry one on the bike.

Agreed. I have a Galco Escort that I use when no other method works. I particularly like to use it when I'm on my motorcycle.jamisjockey wrote:Warhammer wrote:Sorry that I bit the bait that the troll threw out there about just going some place safe. You could always try a Camelback, they conceal a weapon very well and no one looks twice at someone in workout clothes with a camelback on. Hydration and protection, what more could you ask for!
