I am interested too.

I have shot the Beretta PX4 Storm 9 mm Subcompact which weighs in at 26 ozs. It is very nice shooting gun with very manageable recoil. At 6.2" OL and 4.8" Height, it is bigger than the Sig290. It has a double stack magazine, so it's too big for pocket carry.

My Kimber Ultra CDP II is only 25 ounces with empty mag, and it doesn't hurt firing full-power .45 ACP. (I'm sure the grip is a little better on a compact 1911 than on these mini-9s though.)
I'm very interested in this pistol. Also looking at the Kahr PM9, Kel Tec PF9, and the Rohrbaugh R9$. I'd pay to have all these together to try out side-by-side at the range, or even just to handle side-by-side if I found them all in one store. (I've still never seen a Rohrbaugh in person.) Need something for when even my little Kimber is too big, but more potent than my little NAA .22Mag. I'd much rather have a 9mm than a .380.

Hello! Glock! Are you seeing this?!? You NEED a single-stack 9mm CHL gun!

Well, let me start by saying that I love Sig and will never carry anything else. As for the P290, I don't think so. I feel like I would break it while just holding it. I can keep my P220 concealed really well and don't see a need to down grade. Sorry Sig, but you need to go back to the drawing board on that one.

Too bad it does not have a decocker, I'd love a shrunken version of the P239 for a carry gun (I like hammer fired, DA/SA/decocker type guns).

:iagree: It seems like Sig has been pushing their DAK trigger for the last couple of years. I believe that is partially because of the LEO market.

As a side note, the magazine release looks very similar, if not identical, to the P239. I have not had any problems with it accidently getting pushed and dropping the magazine. Of course the P239 is too big to carry in my pocket. ;-)

I considered a P238 a while back, but just can't bring myself to carry a 380 as a primary weapon. Was thinking of the Kahr, but by the time I get around to buying, this sucker might be worth considering.

I got to play with the 290 at the Shot Show, first off let me say that I am a "Sig Snob". I was very un-impressed with it, was much too blockey and bulky for me, even for a small 9mm it just did not feel right, the 238 feels much more natural and balanced than the 290. I am also a DAO fan and the trigger was nothing to write home about and not typical Sig DAO or DAK. Initially I was very excited about this new offering, not anymore, I will keep my 250 sub-compact. The highlight of the small 9mm's is the new Kimber Solo, it feels great and is rounded where it should be, the new Ruger also seems to have a lot of potential as well. I am hoping to get the Kimber and Ruger fairly soon so I can actually shoot them and see how they actually perform......

Fondled one of these at Red's range in Pflugerville this week. Mark me as highly UNIMPRESSED :grumble

Red's usual over-inflated price was nearly $700 :eek6

And this gun will be a BITER ... just racking the slide I almost got bit by both the slide and the hammer.

I think this gun is destined to be a big loser for Sig - while it is roughly the size of the P238 and is a 9mm, I doubt it's even remotely as shootable. This gun reminds me of the Kahr PM series, same inflated price, same too-small grip and bad ergonomics but throw in a hammer that will bite the user just as much as the slide and what's the point of even making this gun?

I handled one a while back, too. Not impressed at all. It was very front-heavy, but I couldn't load a mag for it to check the balance, but it just felt...wrong. It doesn't mate with my hand at all - my monkey paws are too big, I guess. Hopefully it will work out for someone out there. I'll pass.

I had high hopes for the P290 as well. I checked one out at Cabela's and was disappointed for many of the same reasons mentioned already. I see Academy has them now, a two-tone with a frikin' laser. I would rather get the P250SC, one for each hand considering the pricing. As much as I like Sig, good luck with this one.

My brother just got one from Gander Mountain in Houston. First 50 rounds went perfect. Then no more hammer strike. Firing system broke. Go to sigforum.com, and there are threads detailing this occurrence. A trip back to SIG service seems to fix the problem though. My brother's P290 is currently at SIG.

SIG quality doesn't seem to be where it was in years past. My old P229R continues to be absolutely flawless and accurate. Just shot a 250 in my renewal class.
