Friendswood: Home invasion robbery
A family living in the 2900 block of Autumn Creek Drive in Friendswood was tied up and locked into the bathroom while four men described as Hispanic burglarized the house. Police think that the victims were intentionally targeted, not chosen at random.

Re: Friendswood: Home invasion robbery
Sure is sad, hopefully no one was injured, pnysically. I'm sure mentally there will be issues. So glad I have the freedom to have firearms, just in case something like this happens.

Note that the robbers entered through a window while the mother was with her minor children. She is very fortunate not to have been gang-raped or killed.
Why do you think you need that thing?

Agreed SeamusTX Sure is a shame that we're not even safe in our homes. I guess we need a firearm in every room. I do as well placed glass storm door in front of front door and have a security door rod braced up against the front door. For the last year it seems they're getting so bold (stupid) they just try and kick in the front door and do what they want. Oh well, could rant all day but must get back to the grindstone. Glad it worked out where no one was hurt physically. I'm sure there is quite a bit of mental anguish over this though. bye for now.

I agree, but the wife isn't fond of that with our 5 grandchildren always around. So, we do the best we can and I don't win any arguments about the topic as she has put her foot down!
But yes, we need to carry throughout the house more and more!

If I can say something more relevant to the discussion, kids don't do "gun grabs," and their little pinkie toes don't make properly holstered guns "go off."
Far more accidental deaths and injuries have been caused by unsecured loaded firearms concealed in the house—which does not work with kids.

Agreed Jim, just have to spend more time discussing with the wife. Thanks for your input and have a great afternoon and weekend.

Re: Friendswood: Home invasion robbery
Why do people commit these crimes? If the penalty was harsher, would that be more of deterrent?
Here's another one that occurred in Pearland on Wednesday….

Re: Friendswood: Home invasion robbery
You might consider revisiting the discussion with consideration of a Level II retention holster that requires a conscious act of the wearer before the weapon can be released and is resistant to that action being performed by anyone else. Galco and Safariland have good products in this area.HarleyDave wrote:"It will never be closer than your hip."

The perpetrators are stupid or evil, pick any two.Justin CHL wrote:Why do people commit these crimes?
Burglary does not pay well unless the burglars luck out on cash, gold coins, or jewelry. They sell most of the stuff that they steal for cents on the dollar to fences.
They also have a much higher risk of being shot than other thieves. Most defensive shootings are of burglars, because far more homeowners have weapons available than people walking the streets or driving.
No. Burglary of an occupied habitation (as in this case) is a first-degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years. If the penalty was harsher, would that be more of deterrent?
Even if capital punishment were available as a punishment, it is not a deterrent to the people who are executed almost weekly.
My personal belief is that the criminals who do this kind of thing are amoral nihilists who don't care if they live, die, or go to prison.

Re: Friendswood: Home invasion robbery
Thanks Excaliber, didn't think of that one. Some sort of retention system would be good. Thanks for the head's up as that makes more sense and might give the wife a better idea about it.

Here's one example from Galco that might fit the bill at a very reasonable price. Click on the MORE PHOTOS link to see how it works.

Thanks Excaliber, need to wait until I get home to check that out. Our system won't allow me to access. Thanks for the tip.

Grandkids around, I have my Kahr CW40 or the wifes PM9 IWB when at the house. If it's just me & the wife the Judge is in the headboard and a few other trinkets in strategic places in addition to whatever is in the holster.
