Murle's Gunshop in Granbury

#1

Post by wgoforth »

Has anyone been to this gunshop in Granbury before? Had some time to kill, thought I'd stop in today. Started to walk off when I saw a 30.06 sign at a gun shop, wish I had. Was looking at some handguns. He asked if there was anything I was looking for, he had lots of others in the back. Asked about single stacks.. he said no one wants single stacks. I told him that makes it easier to carry. He goes into a 20 minute tirade of YELLING that there is no law on "carry" in Texas, that it is a scam of the gvt...that having a CHL restricts your ability to carry, whereas if you don't have a CHL, you can take one anywhere and that we are all a bunch of dumb liberal citizens and the only reason there are only 2% of the people with a CHL is because that's all the dumb ones they could find. I left as soon as I possibly could with him frothing at the mouth claiming the state constitution allows all citizens the right to carry a gun anywhere, but the CHL takes away our right to carry and only to hide and not in many places at that. It is a shame as he had a lot of guns.
Anyone know about this place? What's up with that??

I ran into a bookshop owner like that in Dennison once. I handed him my purchase and payment to check out and as he slowly figured out the total by hand (and strangely gave me a significant discount on each book), he went on a tirade and hit all the high points--race, class, politics, religion, WWII, health care, you name it. His ideas were passionately held and were very crazy. I was there at a conference and it felt like an eternity from the time he started until he could hand me back my card so I could go. I just kept hoping the other conference-goers who were wandering around in earshot didn't think I agreed with the man.

Doesn't it kinda seem fitting to get that level of crazy from a guy named Murle, though? :headscratch

My hometown. I went in there once, several years ago. He acted like I was bothering him or trying to steal something. I have not been back. I heard that he did call the police on a customer who carried in the store. Man reportedly wanted the handgun repaired or something like that. Most of the time no cars in the parking lot.

When people hear you are from Granbury, the conversation goes to--Whats up with Murles ?

Glad you got out safe,
George :tiphat:

Go to the Pirate's Den instead. Murle is the joke of the town. My theory is that the shop is fully paid for, because there is no way he makes enough money to run that place. I have never found anyone in town to have a good experience with him.

He just hates having a customer in the store.

Maybe Murle has developed an emotional attachment to his inventory and doesn't want to sell any of it.
