My next door neighbors car was broken into last night in Grapevine. His car was in his driveway and they threw a brick through his window and grabbed his iPod. Like an idiot I left my .38 in the glove compartment since I got home so late and was leaving early again for work and didn't want to fumble around in the dark with it this morning. We live right across the street from Cannon elementary and thought it was a quiet peaceful area but I'm thinking the apartments at the far end of the block are as much trouble and they are beginning to appear.
I've only read it here 1000x and still did it. DON'T LEAVE YOUR GUN IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT OVERNIGHT. I got lucky.

Never leave anything of value in the car. At least not visible.

Re: Neighbours car broken into
I have a friend who leaves his car unlocked and never leaves anything of value in the car. I always lock the car, but take anything valuable inside with me. That includes my gun.
I spent the night at a friend's house last night and toted my revolver inside her house. She knows hubby carries and that I'm just waiting on my license. I've had it with me every time I've spent the night and have never told her so. I would imagine she wouldn't be upset at all, but...don't ask, don't tell! :-)

Grapevine is a nice town, but I know from working security there that there is a lot of vehicle break in/theft. (especially around the mall area)
To once again state the obvious, I try to ONLY leave something (hidden of course) of importance or of value in my vehicle only if I have to. This includs in my garage with the door shut.

Police Officer to me: I like your Glock shirt, that is what I am carrying on my waist right now.
Me before thinking: Thanks, and me too
