Does anyone have a Mosin-Nagant and a couple of rounds of ammunition I can try out? The local store has a real nice one for sale, but I'd like to shoot one prior to buying......Thanks!

I have one but I believe they require a scope at the range, I don't have a scope.

I think that's only on the 100 yard range. Should be OK on the thirty, if I understand the rules correctly. All they can do is say "no" if I am wrong. It would be most appreciated!

Rifles - if you want to shoot on the 100-yard range, you must have optics on them - and no FMJ is allowed.
You can, however, shoot FMJ on the 30-yard Tactical bay, and no optics are required.

I'll have to defer to those who have been there before, but it looks like it may be OK...Thanks in advance!

You just can't shoot any FMJ rifle rounds which sucks. All I have for my nagant are surplus FMJ rounds. I can't find any place that will let me shoot it.

You can shoot FMJ in the tactical range at Elm Fork. The problem is that the distance is only about 25 yards. Of course, for a Mosin, that's probably ideal.

I can bring the following and will let people try them:
  1. 5" Springfield Loaded .45 ACP
  2. 3" Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II .45 ACP
  3. 4" Kimber Pro Raptor .45 ACP
  4. 5" Taurus PT1911 .45 ACP
  5. S&W Full sized M&P45 .45 ACP
  6. Glock 19 9mm
  7. S&W 642 .38 Special
  8. S&W 640 .357 magnum
  9. S&W M&P340 .357 magnum
  10. Colt Government .380
  11. S&W Model 29 .44 magnum
  12. Ruger 4.5" 22/45 Mark III Hunter .22 LR
  13. AND a Keltec P3AT, in case anyone is considering buying one and needs to be dissuaded ( ).
I may need help with the ammo - especially the .44 magnum - if there are a lot of people interested. Also, I have no .380 on hand, so if you want to shoot either the Colt or the Keltec, bring your own.

Geeze.... I could just show up with my ammo and shoot TAM's guns. then I don't have to clean mine. Seriously though, I am not thinking I can shoot yet. My surgery on my neck was two Tuesdays ago. I am in a neck brace but I don't know if shooting a gun would cause the bones that are trying to grow together to split apart. I will ask my Doctor on my Monday appointment. This really sounds fun.

I am a maybe unless I get a 100% OK from the Dr.
I've been wonderin' if you were still with us?
The Doctor lied to me. They all said it wouldn't be all that bad. I woke up with tubes coming out of places that shouldn't have tubes. I hurt like nothing I could ever imagine. I was pounding the heck out of the morphine drip but they failed to mention it only dispenses pain medication every 15 minutes no matter how many times you push it. I couldn't eat or drink for a week. I had to let ice melt in my mouth for moisture. Yeah.... They won't fool me again. It still hurts but the arm and hand paralysis that was starting has stopped and even began to reverse. I guess they got the disks repaired. I have been told to expect 90% recovery and no more issues with nerves getting pinched by disks for at least 20-30 years. That works for me. For a while there I thought I was done for...LOL. Four more weeks in this neck brace might make me crazy(er). :grumble
It looks like you had the same operation I did, Did you get a disk removed and vertebrae fused? I could not talk clear for 3 months. I was 36 when I had this done so my recovery was uneventful. That neck brace was the biggest problem I had well that and trying to find parking I didn't need to reverse out of. I had a continuous pain in my neck for about 9 months before the operation and numbness and tingling in my left had, after surgery it was all gone.

I don't know about the neck, but I had the disc removed and vertebrae fused at L4/L5. I've never fully recovered, but I am also better off than I was before the surgery, so I guess I don't have any regrets.

For me it was my C6-C7 and now after 8 years C5 is showing some degeneration due to the added stress from having C6&C7 fused. I would imagine your L3 will get the same results, but the Dr said I did not need to worry for a long time.

C5-C7 had to be put back in place and fused together. The padding (or what ever it is called) between them has worn away. I also had a narrowing of the canal the nerves run through. They put bone pieces in between each disk and drilled out the canal the nerve runs through. I had almost lost the use of my right hand and arm so this was the only way to fix it. They go in from the front and like posted above, I also had trouble even talking. Going in from behind is harder because of the neck muscles.

Sorry about the off topic...... but it is getting better by the day. Watching Dallas beat Houston would go a long way toward my recovery so I trust you Houston fellers will cheer for the Cowboys to aid me in my hour of need. :biggrinjester:

Yeah, part of my problems today is because L3/L4 and L5/S1 are really starting to break down.

OK... you fellers are not making me feel any better. For gods sake... tell me these things don't just keep getting worse for everyone. I was told by my Doctor I could go back to weight lifting and a normal life after this. :totap: I have not been able to work out since April because of this.
