I am thinking the trauma to the human lima bean is by his wife after she found out he had spent all that money and was so stupid to mess everything up so badly... although, the "peels" look a bit too perfect to me.... BUT if it is on the internet it must be true!
Quite entertaining! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Mystery barrel problem....
Entertaining...Yes. Factual...No. The barrel has clearly been cut with two clean passes. There is no sign of charring, jagged edges, or bulging before the base of the split. Also, look at the bore sight. Anyone who has ever held one in their hand, knows that there is no way it would survive the pressures of a high powered rifle round without turning to aluminum dust. Also, look at the amount of damage to the bore sight vs. the barrel... No way possible. If we still used thin walled pattern welded steels, maybe. However the effect would be a spiral split from the layers unwrapping at the weld points between the two types of steel. No high carbon steels used in barrels today would fail like this with any factory, hot hand load, or even a double loaded round. Would they fail under those conditions, yes. Would they split the barrel neatly to the stock and do no damage to the bolt, stock, scope, or chamber... Nope. That pretty well sums it up IMHO.

Well now you're taking all the fun out of it. That's just mean.

And now for my next trick, I will attempt to turn this high power rifle into a banana.....
