Red's range in Austin

#1

Post by hangfour »

Red's in Pflugerville (a wee bit north of Austin) is a nice place to shoot in my view. It's clean, the safety procedures are good, the staff is pleasant, and there are about twenty lanes for pistols and rifles. The gun store there is pretty large too with knowledgeable staff.

The best thing about the place is ladies day which is every Monday. The range fee for women on ladies night is $7.50 per hour with free gun usage (you must buy their ammo though - which is nominally priced). When my wife went there a few weeks ago she shot seven 9mm pistols for no charge (except the ammo) and I shot a bunch of 45's and I did not have to pay for the gun rental as I was with my wife.

Last time we went on Monday a high school pistol team was there including the principal and the police officer assigned to the school. It was a pleasure to see so many clean cut kids developing their skills with firearms. We go there often.
There is an afterlife - what we do here matters!

Yep, Red's is convenient and not bad if you shoot occasionally, but if you shoot more than at least once a month or want to shoot more than an hour each visit, it gets expensive. If you want to shoot more than that you should consider some of these ranges since you are near Austin.
I use the KR training website because they are top quality instructors.
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...
