I too was once in your shoes. Admitting you have a problem is the first step towards recovery.
We are here to help. Let's start with your childhood. Did you have a fascination with toy guns growing up?

1. Bring the gun over to my house and lock it my safe for a while - 2 to 3 weeks minimum - to see if you really can live without it.

2. If you can live without it, then give it to me for permanent safe-keeping.... ....in case you ever change your mind.

3. If you cannot live without it, then give it to me for permanent safe-keeping.... ....we'll put a "library card" on it and you can come check it out once in a while for supervised range trips.

4. If none of the above are acceptable alternatives for you, then give it to me for permanent safe-keeping. I'll send you emailed pictures once in a while.

Hahah! Excaliber and I are both long lost in those areas of sin - ARs and 1911s. Love 'em. Love 'Em, LOVE 'EM!

That said, I feel certain that I can control my own addiction in the matter of storing NTexas_V-Star's Springfield Operator in my safe as an act of charity infused with the milk of human kindness. I'm not so sure that Excaliber can be trusted in that regard.

I almost completely kicked the AR bug a year ago. I sold my last one and got into bolt action rifles and pump shotguns.

However, sometime in the next year or two I'm gonna pick up an AR-10 .308, mount a 4x EOTech or AimPoint on it, and call it good. And buy a ridiculous amount of magazines. No more gadgetry. And with the .308, all my rifles will be able to share ammo in a pinch, with the exception of my varmint rifle (.243).

Nope. Real guns for me. Pellet rifles, .22LR tube fed semi-automatic, and single shot 20gauge.

I will most definitely do that. As a matter of fact, Plano isn't too far from me, maybe in the spring or early winter we can set up a northern area meet&greet, range day type thing. I'd be more than happy to let someone try it out.
